can you damage youre engine if wrong firing order?

ok first of all i was rushing it and i know im stupid. yesterday I started my turbo set up I did the oil feed lines taped the pan new sinthetic oil, newwspark plugs. and i started the engine to check for leaks, everithing went great except my engine was idleling rough and making it shake vigorsly, and turn of but I was thinking it was restricted from the small turbo so i proseded to rev the engine up like a dumb ass to see if the turbo worked, and went to sleep. so last nite i was thinking about the idle and tought I might of put the wires in wrong firing order, so before I started the car in the morning I looked it up on ht and it was 1342 clockwise, checked mine an it was wrong, fixed it and the car wouldnt turn on anymore, could it be broken. so today I checked fuel pres, main relays, comp 120,120,120,135. and spark it seemed to not spark up so strong, other than that it was good. its a D15B7

umm, the firing order is 1342... so you might want to start there... and yeah, i wouldnt try starting it until you get that right... witha turbo on there, you might mess something up pretty bad.

ya i meant 1342 , but I haven't installed my charge pipes yet I just revved t hard when it was idling bad. is 120 across good compression for my engine or that really bad?

That's pretty bad.

is that bad considering that I cant turn the engine on and cant warm it up to operating temp, to check the compression?

as for the compression that is crap, even if it was cold.

my friend had the wrong firing order ran the car to hell for like 1month b4 it wouldnt started it anymore.

after fixing hte fireing order his car started back up but anything can happen .

also I heard that if you do a comp test you need to remove your spark plug wire and injector connections otherwise you can fry you dizzy, is this true, couse I didn't and I checked for spark and I don't see almost any at all, sometimes I never do.

theres a chance that it may screw up the coils or something else i dont remember what it was
i have done many compression test on my cx motor with dizzy in didnt do anything to it

when doing a compression test
all you need to unplug is the
1. dizzy
2. fuel pump fuse or fuel injector clips

a good running motor should be around 165psi on average. what do u mean it wont start? wont crank or will just crank and wont start or what that would be helpful.

h kid 05-21-2005 06:30 PM

Re: can you damage youre engine if wrong firing order? (h kid)

The motor cranks but it wont turn on i checked for spark and it works , gas is fine but it wont turn on, so im guessing its low comp and the spark cant ignite.

I may have just fouled out your 02 sensor buy running it on the wrong timing and all.

Frozen E 05-21-2005 08:05 PM

Pull your distributor and flip it 180*. Happened to a friend of mine when we replaced his. Fired right up.

::Edit::
NM, doesn't look like you touched your distributor at all. If you had replaced that or removed it for some reason flipping it might do the trick.

so if the sensor s bad, the car wont start? im almost certain its the compression that's stopping it from running. whats your guys compression when its cold, if your is as low as mine and your car still runs then its not that, but if I cant fix it by tomorrow im buying another couse I need the car, so give me some suggestions please.

120 psi sucks. You've got busted rings, screwed valves, or... you have no idea about how to correctly read the compression.

Did you open the throttle while turning the motor over? Did you turn it over until the compression didn't go any higher?

Re: can you damage youre engine if wrong firing order? (Methuselah)

yes i did all of that, i put oil in the cilinder and it jumpd to 200 psi, so that would make the car not run rite, other than that i see nothing else wrong.

Re: can you damage youre engine if wrong firing order? (komat)

car usually wont start with a wrong firing order and if it did, it will skip like fuck on 3 cyl cause teres no way it will run on 2 cyl.

Re: can you damage youre engine if wrong firing order? (SP00LIN)

does anybody know if you have compresion of 120 psi will it still start, or do i have another prob and the comp is not it?

Providing you didn't put too much oil in the cylinders then you've just pinned it down to really (REALLY) bad rings... and yes, the car will run like crap with compression that low.
