How do I Disarm the Airbags on 2001 Accord
 

I need to do some electrical work on my 2001 Accord and hear ou should disarm your SRS system before doing any electrical work. Is this correct and if it is how do I do this?

just unplug both of your battery terminals and wait 3 or so minutes before you do anything on the electrical system and you'll be fine.

Great thanks! I also heard that you should unplug the two connectors to the air bags do I need to be concerned about this at all?

nope I wouldn't worry about that, as long as you wait a few minutes for the system's power to fully drain you'll be all set.

What work are you going to be doing?

When I replaced my cabin filter (air conditioning filter) a few years ago on my '99, the instructions in the Haynes manual said to unplug the airbag as well as disconnecting the negative terminal.

I am installing DRL and was going to also check the cabin filter you are talking about? Do you need to disconnect the air bag for this?

Do you need to disconnect the air bag for this?</TD></TR></TABLE>I'm not sure that you have to disconnect it, but the Haynes manual says to disconnect it to keep it from going off while you are right there (in case you trip a sensor or whatever), as a saftey precaution. And since your head will be relatively close to the airbag, I would follow this safety precaution. It's easy to disconnect, there's a place on the line near the cabin filter that you just unplug (after unplugging the battery).

If you don't have a Haynes manul, pick one up, it's been invaluable to me.
