There are 2 type of Honda filters. One is the fatter and the the smaller ones. The smaller ones are new and they were meant for the new K series. But on the older Honda engine you can use the new smaller filter. So there is nothing wrong with you fatter Nippon oil filter. I'm interested in the difference in Oil pressure and such! So post it up!

I work at an oil change place, and both will work.

All the newer honda motors (Im guessing 2002 and newer) use the thinner longer filter. We use pennzoil filters, so I refer to it as a 109. It uses the same stem as the older fatter filter(pzi-33). Both work fine on almost all honda engines. If you look at them closely, you'll see that the stem hole is the same size on both, and the gasket is also the same size.

However, the skinnier longer one will raise your oil pressure a bit since it holds less oil.

Chrisfball12 01-04-2008 01:22 AM

i just use a fram filter with a magnetic loop that hugs the filter to catch any metal crap

or you can also buy a metal screen to prevent junk from going back into your engine

Re: (macrosshn)

Dont use it. look at the threaded part. you can see that the nippon filter will not catch nearly as many threads when threaded onto the motor ad the oem filter. i would defiantly make sure you get as many turns before its tight as the oem does, otherwise its asking for trouble.
