What could cause tire wear on inside of driver side front tire on stock height GSR?
I just bought a 99 GSR that rides at stock height and I have noticed that the inside part of driver side tire is warn bald while the outside still has good amount of tread. Also seem to be wearing in a similiar way on the passenger side but in a much less severe manner. I want to try to fix the problem, If one exists before I put new tires on the car. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks, Allen

Do you know when the last alignment was done on your car? Sounds like it may be bad toe.

No I am not sure when the last alignment was done but alignment feels pretty good while I am driving. I can let go of the wheel and the car stays going straight for the most part.

incorrect tire pressure???maybe,i dunno.

I think incorrect tire pressure would cause a more uniform wear such as center or the outter edges of the tires. But I'm not 100% sure either.

toe problem, integras have stock negative camber and it sounds like a toe problem. if there is scaloping its a toe problem. low tire pressure is wear on outsides and on sidewall, too much tire pressure is wear in center, bad ball joints doesn't really cause tire wear, they clunk when you hit a bump. bad caster causes the car to roll like a shopping cart (wheels wobble, only that bad if you've been in a bad front end wreck). toe out causes outward scaloping on the riding surface (so if the tires cambered, only on the part it rides on) toe in causes inward scaloping.
scaloping looks like cartoon sound waves marked accross the tire like this: ))))) if the tire was rolling left to right on this page.... kinda hard to draw with text. |

If you just bought it i bet it was lowered before they sold it. When i sold my 90 teg i put the stock springs back on it before i sold it. More people will look at a stock car rather than looking at a lowered car.

I looked at the springs/suspension and it looks as though it has been that way for a long time. For instance dirt and grime that would have been knocked off while pulling and replacing springs. If it is a toe problem how do I go about fixing it?

Go and get an alignment, and they'll put the toe back to factory settings.

I think we have already confirmed the fact that it isnt tire pressure. THanks.

get it checked out at a shop for camber. They have machinese to test it that you can't do it by yourself.
