arp headstuds vs golden eagle headstuds?
 
i guess this question is matter of opinion, but i would like to know which would be better to use? i can find specs for arp head studs but i cant find any specs on golden eagle head studs to compare to arp. i just want t compare specs.

I havent really heard anything about GE's studs but there have been many threads comparing AEBS studs to ARP's and both are just as good. I've been running arp's and havent had a problem and i have the OLD style ones which i bought from a buddy of mine last year. but i dont think you can go wrong with either of those three.

I haven't seen pictures of the AEBS head studs, but I hope they're better than the ARP. The Golden Eagles are better in my opinion because they use a dog point bottom. This allows the point of the stud to bottom out on the block instead of the threads bottoming out. You can then apply tension on the stud in the opposite direction before you even torque it, allowing you to apply more torque and tension without it breaking. When the threads are bottomed out like in the ARP, there is a large amount of stress concentrated at the top of the threads, possibly causing the stud to crack. Thats my 2 cents, and I'm buying Golden Eagle head studs. If someone would like to show me that ARP or AEBS uses dog points on their studs, I'll happily consider them.

I haven't heard of any failing, but the different design allows more torque to be applied to the stud without it breaking. This of course equals better sealing. Someone may have a tale of head studs failing, but I haven't seen anything first hand. I wouldn't worry if you use them with the specified torque for the regular head bolts.

Really you cannot compare G.E. to ARP.

ARP just plain out manufacters just that screws, nuts, bolts.

the reason i ask is arp gives specs and i can guess the strength of the studs. with ge i dont know what they use to make the stud and the strength

and i think that arp has been in buisness for a really long time. so they have a lot of R& D in there products. where as aebs and ge are new companys. not totaly sure about this. but i have heard of arp for many years. family is all in to fixing up hot rods.

arp are used on high output drag cars, so its a name you can trust...i have them and have no problems with them..

At the track Tommy Ten's head lifted while using Golden Eagle headstuds, but he's pushing 540whp. Personally, I'm using ARP headstuds and have no complaints https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

Just to let you all know, we do not make our headstuds ourselves. We have a French company that makes fasteners for IRL, F1, NHRA Powerade ( the likes of John Force, Kenny Bernstein, etc. ) and many more. They specialize in performance fasteners and are considered the best in the industry. We DO NOT use ARP for our head studs. I can personally guarantee that our studs are FAR superior to ARP studs, and I will prove it. This week I will tour the facility where the studs are made. I will put together a product and manufacturer overview so you guys can decide. Expect to see something later this week. By the way, almost all the champions in our sport compact race at NHRA this last weekend ALL use studs from the same manufacturer as our studs. Teams like GM, Saturn, Bothwell, Bergenholtz and many, many more. Just thought you guys should get the record straight!

I have no experience with the GEM studs, but from what Vince just said they sound like they are excellent studs.
I typically almost always use AEBS studs for my customers builds. I have used the ARP's in the past and every time I torque the head down and then let it sit 24 hours they will almost always relax about 8-14 ft lbs. The AEBS are much beefier and they have the correct design so that you preload the threads in the block.
Whoever said AEBS and GEM use ARP for the stud design and manufacturing has no clue and is just speading wrong information. There are other hardware manufacturers out there.

Actually my AEBS studs would lose torque also, I do a repeat process over and over until they stay at the specified torque per my tuner's suggestions and experiences with ARP and AEBS studs both. I can tell you I had 3 customers recently order headstuds and I ordered the Golden Eagle ones for all three!
