Re: d16 rebuild kit (dzminiz)

i dont know if anybody sells a complete rebuild "kit" but you can pick up some ACL bearings from a couple different distributors on this site, one of them being EARL. you can pick up a gasket set and oil pump from your local honda dealer. hope that helps a little. maybe somebody else has some pointers about where to pick up gaskets for a better price. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: d16 rebuild kit (dzminiz)

http://www.importperformanceparts.net offers alot of rebuild parts, like higher-flowing oil pumps and bearings

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com is a decent source for parts, i know their sister site acuraautomotiveparts.net offers honda part for 25% off OE list....

if you spun a rod bearing, the crank is going to need to be checked out, to see if you ate the journal up.

i can sell you a package deal that will give you a great basis for an all motor d16. if all you need is bearings, pistons, rings, pins, and a gasket kit, off the top of my head i could sell it for $500.

Why would he need new pistons?

for a bump in compression he could select a set of OE pistons from another d, such as p29 or something-----

dude here's some advice, drop the d-16 and why dont you get some B series motor? sounds like some extra horse power, reliable, and you get more street credit dawg, haha im kidding, you got to think what is more worth your money

Re: (S13sGA2DUMP)

full d16z6 build for $2500 with 90% OE honda parts that will net you around 20-25 more whp and 20+ more ft/lbs than a b16 swap...or, b16 swap with all the associated parts for $2500.....

Re: (builthatch)

d16z6 build for $2500...ill tell you what, ill do that build for $1500, all day long, any day of the week including God's day.

i built a d16z6 for a thousand. it runs nearly 14:1, eats up b, h, and k series engines with a jg engine dynamics cam, and TB.

i love b series, but there is a lot to be done with a d16. but the next trick is droppin a fully built turbo h22a runnin 11:1 with 16lbs into a 1988 crx si shell.

Re: (CallMeJesus)

to make over 150 whp reliably out of a sohc vtec, I have found you need...

p29's @ .5mm over with rings- 250
Crower 2 or 3 cam- 325
Springs/ TI rets- 320
ARP rod bolts- 50
Bore, mill/deck, balance, shot-peen rods, valve job- 500
portwork- free, if you know what you are doing
or
portwork- 500
bearings, gaskets, WP/t-belt- 250
Clutch- 325
y8 intake mani- 50
BBK TB- 250
or Type R TB- 150
Header- 300-600
PowerFC- 650+250dynotime
or
Hondata- 295+250 dynotime
or
chipped p28- 150

This is assuming you already have the complete engine and it is not damaged, your fuel pump is up to the task, your injectors are balanced/ flowing properly, and already have obd1 harness plugs so you don't need jumper harness....

PS- sure, you could cut many many corners, but every extra mile you get out of the setup is worth it as is every little HP...
