thicker vs thinner spark plug wires
 

dann anyone know the differences between thicker wires vs thinner (for example MSD super conductor 8.5mm vs some wires 10.5mm...)

i know that thicker can deliver more load of voltages to sparks which provides performanc wise and response but i heard they got lot of EMI (electronic magnetic inferance to your engine bay) could be to radio, ecu, sensors....etc

anyone have any idea... thanx...

the difference between thicker and thinner wires is the resistance

a thicker wire has less resistance to voltage than the thinner wire

the emf your are talking about can be caused by all that you mentioned but
if the plug wires you buy should be designed with an insulation to deflect emf's

magne core , msd , ngk,

i'm running ngk 7.5's and have had absolutely no problems
car did feel a little more responsive after i did it too but that probalbly because i old ones were shot

yeah running NGK 8mm ....i can feel the engine is running smoother ....startup better than usual to....so far so good....haven't notice about fueling eficiency yet...cuz i haven't measure...hopefully it will give 1 more mile per gallon of gas...lol

it is depending on material of supression....NGK is small but very good...some cheap company make it so big like 10mm 10.5mm...and yes they will output more sparks but chances of interferance are high too

it also depends on the quality of the connectors/plugs .. In theory a connector made for that wiring size, will work better with even thicker wiring, because the wire simply conducts better.. There is no such thing as a bottleneck with electricity...

In reality however, the big diameters sell.. so they rather safe a few bucks on a good connection and connector to keep the price down.. but 50% "performance" of the product is in the quality of the connection..

MSD and NGK wires are good, don't bother with those no name "10mm" wires.. waste of money.

ive seen dynos of stock wires vs ngk blue wires and the old stock wires out performed the ngk's. IMHo unless your wires are for sure bad and its alot cheaper or something i wouldnt bother with anything more than stock.

Ya 10mm ebay crap...There was an dyno 230 allmotor engine with stock wires, gained 4hp with msd wires!They tested several but msd came up on top still! Msd:thumbup:
