Wet sanded through base coat...

Wet sanded through base coat...
I'm repainting a 95 Del Sol and while I was wet sanding (1000) the door, I cut through to primer in a spot. Should I sand and prime it all again, or just respray the color over the 1000 grit sanded door?
Details:
DIY painting in a home garage.
Using single stage Nason Acrylic with reducer and hardener (Glossy Black).
The paint had a little orange peel and I cut through along the crease in the lower part of the door.

Re: Wet sanded through base coat...
are you doing a respray of the same color because you just wanted to? or are you changing colors? or did u do body work and have to respray the car?
if you are just doing a normal respray of the same color then you should be able to just spray a light coat over the small area that you broke through, let it flash, THEN spray the first full coat over the whole car let flash then followed by the second and/or third and clear.
it shouldnt be noticeably wavy or anything if u were wetsanding (properly) OEM paint for a respray. but if there were multiple layers from previous paint jobs and you broke into the primer, then maybe i would do a spot primer and sanding before i layed the basecoat.
stick to 800wet or 1000wet for a respray. but if you're changing colors i'd go 500-600grit spray sealer, then base n clear.

Re: Wet sanded through base coat...
I didn't get much done over the last week (sick) so I still don't have an after picture. I did sand and repaint that entire side of the car. I did a terrible job. A couple big runs and a bit more orange peel. Thanks to 3M abrasives and a cheap HF polisher it is, at least, an improvement over the original.
