Spray Painting Urethane Lip
Are there any tips on spray painting a urethane lip kit?
Right now the steps that im going to follow are :
Sand the lip kit
Apply adhesive Promotor (2 coats)
Spray Primer (2 coats)
Sand the primer
Spray a couple coats of paint ( I think 5-10 mins. between coats)
Let it dry
Spray clear (2 coats)
My questions are:
1) Can I apply more adhesive promoter on-top of the primer, before I paint?
2) How long does the primer take to dry?
3) Hoe long does the paint take to dry?
4) What are the negative effects if I do this where its about 40 degrees (I know on the back of the can it says that it should be around 70 degrees)?
Thanks

Re: Spray Painting Urethane Lip (t3am 83rd)
Question 1: no i wouldn't you'd only need adhesive promoter so that the primer can stick to the lip.
Question2: i'm over in FL so temp really matters with dry time here, but i wouln't sand primer for a gooooood hour if its 40 degrees i'd wait longer.
Question3: paint is dry when it has a shell dull look to it, but the clear is the one you have a 5-10min flash time in between coats and you want to go with a heavy wet coat but not wet enough to run it cause then you sand them out and do it again
Good Luck

i hate to admit this . but the other night i spray painted a fender outside at about 40 degrees . i was shocked to find nothing happened . it worked fine . it dried quicker then youd think as well . i didnt care what it looked like so it wasnt a big deal is something happened . if your worried about drying time paint part of the backside of the lip too . your better of going with many thin layers then a couple thick ones . except with the clear . you have to do it thick like pac man said , but not too heavy or you will have drips to take care of .
