Default Spray paint got on car HELP PLEASE

Ok,

Well I like a friend of mine went to paint my wiper arms (mistake starts here.) He put a towel down, sprayed one, the put the towel down the other and sprayed, but he put the towel down wet side. So The black sprint paint from towel, got on newly painted champion white 95 civic coupe.

He then goes to local autozone and get p800 grit sand paper(i think), and sands off the black spray paint by hand the black spray paint came all off.. problem is it looks like maybe the clear coat came off too?

In certain light or if you look close it clearly looks like sanding was done, and you can see the dullness. The whole area is about the size of a 20oz coke bottle.. then with some spots here n there ...additional spots here n there.

I know I was an ***, by letting him do this, and not paying someone to do it correctly, but whats done is done. I tried some mothers turtle wax, and it didn't seem to do anything..

My question is what are my options? could I polish/buff? Do I need to have the hood sprayed again? Anything that can be done besides spending $150+ for shop to spray my whole hood.

P.S. I did some googling, and saw that I should of tried nail polish remover and not sand paper, after this had happened ofcourse

This happened to my car, real bad. (spray paint can exploded inside, threw it out real quick and it got the whole side of my car). And laquer thinner took it all off and did nothing to the base/clear coat.
Guess that doesnt help now though. Sorry man.

When he was sanding did you see any paint on the sandpaper? Did he wet sand it or just straight out sand it?
Well, if you didn't see any white paint on the sand paper then just buff the spots with a fast buffer and use buffing compound like Meguiars Diamond Cut, it will make the surface shiny again; but, since your buddy sanded it with 800 grit do expect to see scratch marks from the sand paper.

if you broke through to the base coat, it will be pretty obvious, if you look very closely you should be able to see a diffrent were it busted through and where it didnt. Also since your car is white you may have mistaken the white powder from the clear coat for the base coat. As long as you didnt break through to the base you can fix this easily and it should look no diffrent than the rest of the car. Sand it some more with some 1500 grit to get rid of all the 800 scratches. then polish it with some extra cut conpound to bring back the shine, then use some swirl mark remover then some final glaze. If you do a good job of it, that spot will probably look better than the rest of your car. You can even do all of this by hand and it will come out just fine, just gonna take a while.

800 is fine, just follow it with 1000, and buff it. you will need a rubbing compound, and a buffing machine.

If you burned through the paint, you will need to re -paint, probably add some glazing putty, since i am pretty sure, you just sanded that part down. If you just sand one spot down alot, if makes a hole. SO keep an eye out for that.

Good luck.

^^^^ Bad advice. Who the hell sands CLEAR with 800 grit? 1000 is way too course. You must not value your time. Because your going to be playing with that buffer for alot longer than any normal person who will sand with 1500.

If you sanded through paint, why would you add filler? Its called feather edging...try it out.

Ok Step 1.) Wet sand the area or whole car, let it dry 2 see any sports missed, then go back and do those. Not pressing 2 hard let it float over with a little pressure, don't go into the paint u get a new paint job.
2.) Put the rubbing compound on the are of attention, Note: only do one section at a time, don't try it all at once, Continue to detail until u think its ready, or until compound dry to a harden state.
4.) wipe excess off with towel
5.) spray on wax and buff than in until harden state as well.
6.) wipe off with towel
7.) wash excess compound wax off trim ext, use a towel of flannel cloth.

I did this because i got over spray from tinting my tail lights on it, for retards SPRAY PAINT ON CAR!

PM me if theres anything i have missed sorry no pics will try 2 get them later

NOTE: BODY SHOPS do this u can use 2000 Grit i would if u don't know much much clear is on the car u can call me if u want, (864)-918-2452

A little bit of rubbing compund, I prefer 3m, and some elbow grease will remove spray paint overspray before it cures. For future reference

All of these people are wrong! To get the paint off just use a high speed grinder with a 24 grit disc. Then get out your pick hammer and pummel the area where the troublesome paint is. Then simply add 1/2 a gallon of plastic filler, and let dry over night. The next morning use an air chisel to level out the filler, and your ready to paint!

P.S. Do not take that seriously, if you did...wow
