single stage paint
i was planing to paint my beater with just base coat..
2 coats of base..
is there anyway to remove orange peel without hitting it with clear?
i was told wetsand..but isnt wetsanding only for the clear coat?
and since im not puttin on a clear...how can i decrease orangepeel?

You dont call a single stage paint a base coat. Both clear and base coats are integrated in a single stage paint. With a 2 stage base and clear the base coat is generally a fast drying low sheen coat that is sprayed over with a clear to get the gloss.
You can get really nice results with a single stage depending on the equipment used and how much sanding you want to do. On my car I sprayed about 5 cross coats of paint and did alot of wet sanding and polishing to get a glass like finish. Keep in mind you want to buy a decent quality paint to get these kind of results. You get what you pay for when it comes to paint.
I dont have access to my photobucket right now but I will post some pics later.
