good example is a a rock crawler project of mine. i take it out in the woods every other weekend so why would i spend 200 on auto paint when i can get 2 or 3 qts of rusto for 8 bucks a piece. same with a 93 civic cx hatch im painting now. i dont care about the body. i would rather use the 150 bucks i save and spend it on something else to help the car go faster.

so it just matters what your painting and what its for. if the guy wants to paint a car with rusto let him. does it really bother you that much that people are doing this paint job? cus it sure seems to me that you are getting really butt hurt about people spraying their cars with something cheap. especially when it looks half decent.

I knew i was gona regret buying a honda with this bullshit that goes on, i wish i bought a mustang.
then show us where you can get these prices??? cus 50 bucks is different then 100 plus. also 50 dollars is a lot of gas now a days. we don't all have money flying out our asses...

oh dont get me wrong, i have no issue with painting a rock crawler in rustoleum when its only gona get destroyed a weekend later, thats completely understandable. What annoys the ever living **** out of me is the people who try to pass it off as "professional" or "quality" paint jobs. Not only does it drag down the community as a whole, but its just plain stupid and shows a complete disregard for any sort of quality and spreads mis-information to people on what should otherwise be a sub forum for actual quality advice regarding painting a car properly.

Well my 50 paint job came out perfect, but its still shitty paint. Its probaly hard for people like you too understand.

FACT your going to be putting in a **** ton of labor. More than enough you to go to work and make the extra 100 dollars for a single stage paint.

FACT I hope you like sanding because your going to being doing a ton of it so it doesnt have orange peel

FACT have fun running around your car with a paint rollar trying to get every run

Im not saying dont try it if really really want to do it, imm just giving a heads up on what your in for.

These our all good FACTS!! BUT Lol... Orange peel seems to be more from the Mix of the paint you use.. I had little to no Orange peel when i did my car >< then again I sprayed the paint soo that might have had something to do with it..

My car looks ok an i still havnt sanded it ><

Single stage paint! You need a Gun/Compressor/Paint Booth for this witch pushes up your project in the 400 to 500 bucks > Thats a turbo kit allmost </ More then I payed for the car Lol

This is funny watching the "h-t know it alls" get their panties in a wad over some budget rusto paint jobs...com'n people, do you really have such a shitty life that you browse the paint and body section on h-t looking for people who dont do what you do, or dont paint their cars "the right way". if the paint job turns out shitty..so be it, it was their decision. ever heard the expression live and learn. this thread wasnt made for people to criticize...the op wanted to know the proper mix ratio...5%-15% mineral sprits mixed with rusto, just mess around with that ratio until its to your liking
