I work in a tint shop and this is how we do it. We use a solvent style chemical called "tint off". Spray the window this the chemical then put some sort of film on it to hold the chemical in place. Let it set for like 10 mins then pull the film off. It should come off in 1 or 2 big pieces and leave u with just the adhesive on the window. Spray the the window with the chemical again. Wait 2-3 mins and start scrubbing with an SOS pad. After you have scrubbed spray water or glass cleaner on it and squeegee it off. Repeat as necessary. It is a bitch which is why we charge $50/hour to strip tint but you can do it if you have the patience.

That's some good advice! I've been pondering the same situation myself! Great info Jman8108

What we use at my work is ammonia and a big black garbage bad. tape the bag on the window and pour a little in and leave it sit in the sun, it comes off great then.
