Default Recommend good HVLP spray gun $100ish?

Any recommendations for a nice HVLP spray gun around $100? Personal recommendations, experience in using, reliability, ease of use. A few mentioned to me a Wagner Control Spray MAX as a good starter gun that is easy on the $$$.

Multi use for me, everything from doing a new hood on my CRV, maybe even trying this plasti dipping thing on the car, to doing my backyard fence.

I would probably use it for multiple applications. I would probably plasti dip my CRV as a less expensive alternative for my aging CR-V that is on its last legs. But I have a fence I might paint as well.

But for less conflicting case, lets say Plasti dip as a primary use.

That looks very nice!

I laid my bike down a few years ago at slow speeds, I changed out the middle left fairing, the lower black plastic fairing was slightly scuffed but being cheap plastic it really didnt look like much. My rear fairing is scuffed up on the left side, I was trying to think of ideas to patch it up. Somebody said a big sticker should cover it up!

Yours looks nice. Did you paint the wheels as well?

I've debating on painting parts of the bike or maybe just getting some different fairings. My friend replaced his with that Konica Minolta replica fairings. I've always been keen on Carbon Fiber but I don't want to even imagine the cost.

Depend what your doing.if you spraying solid colores you might get away with it. youll want a decent gun for clearing. Even with a cheap single stage paint. You want to get that shine from the gun. I havent tryed a cheap gun so I dont know. Spray realy close and it might work. If your spraying metallic coloure. Buy a realy good gun thats made for it or you will stuff up the paint job iwatas a realy good band. Worth ever doller

VKS, have you actually been in the Industry? They way you talk, sounds like you haven't actually sprayed anything. There is no need to buy a 700-1000 buck gun for most jobs. Yes having nice guns is sweet, but most jobs you can get away with cheaper guns.

I sprayed a 1/2 million dollar car, yes my Sata's were the only option for that, but most these guys are doing this stuff in their garages and using lesser paints. There's no reason to make them second guess their options or ability's

I haven't painted anything since art class my Sophomore year in Highschool.

This is for a DIY cheap thing I'm doing on my little beater Honda CR-V. I'm going to use this experience for some reasons.

1. my CR-V could use a refresh, but its rusting away and putting a large investment on a killer paint job wouldn't really save it, its a old 15yr old car.

2. I can use this as a learning experience for future projects, which is probably why I'm going less expensive route with plasti dip. if I muff up really bad, I can just peel it off.

3. I'd still like my CR-V to look half decent. Its been good to me all these years.

That being said I want to still do things properly, and have fun doing it. Rattle canning it seems a little cheesy, so I've been watching all these plasti dipping videos on youtube, and it actually looks interesting. Some results are pretty amazing.

I appreciate all the good advice that has come my way so far.

If you do it right, you can get the coupons for 10-15 bucks. They are not as good as say a 700 dollar spray gun but will work good for entry level stuff. I use mine mostly for primer or guide coats, but they have a 1.4 tip and spray pretty nice for the price. I use it over my 3M guns or my Sata for stuff that doesn't need much concern over texture.
