Default Question about gutting.

Not sure if this should be in here but anywho, I got a 95 coupe and wanted to know how much i could weight i could expect to lose by gutting rear seat, carpet, sound deadening, door panels, and pretty much anything else little like that?

And also i read that if you do gut that it could throw off the weight distribution, so second question is is it worth it due to the distribution? Or can that be fixed by relocating weight to the rear?

Also this is mainly for aesthetics and personal choice, I'm not a fan of the carpet anyway in my car so i've just been looking at gutting vs. redoing the interior, but if it were to throw off anything i wouldn't do it, so thanks for any help.

You really won't lose that much weight honestly, it shouldn't mess up the car. You want to remove the stuff to look cool basically? your car will be more uncomfortable, louder, and have no noticeable gains. I would just redo the interior, make it look nice! honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=1864665 if you haven't checked out the post your interior thread, you can get some great ideas of what to do there

id keep the carpet thats like 10lbs ....just scrap off the sound deadoning.

rear seats like 25lbs, carpet like 10 lkbs, sound material 10lbs door panels like 8lbs for both. get lightweight wheels and loose the crash bars

front wheel drive cars will always have some understeer. you can help some with a stronger sway bar, real FULL coil overs (not ebay sleeves), a good strut tower brace and so on.

you might be able to get a small amount of negative caster if the cradle is adjusted back as far as it will go. neg caster helps it turn easier and that car doesn't have other caster adjustment.

getting rid of your reinforcement bars is real gamble though. do get hit if you take them off.
