Default Prep for factory trim? primer?

So i am getting ready to paint my side skirts, and mirrors to color match them to my car.

Do i just sand the skirts/mirrors and then paint over them? or should i use some kind of primer? They are just factory trim no colors no nothing just faded ugness.

how many coats of paint/clear do you recommend put on?

i would sand them and wash with alcohol to remove any mold release agents that might be left when i did my mirrors the first time i didnt do this and got bad peeling. 2-3 coats of color and 2 of clear should do, what color u usein???

you need to clean them good with tsp, hot water and a gray scotchbrite first. then scuff them with scuff stuff and a gray scotch brite, then litely coat them with a plastic primer. then youre ready to spray them according to what your paint system reccomends. sealer/paint/clear or whatever. if you dont prep them right the paint will come back off over time.
