I want to plastic dip some chrome parts and wheels lets say. But it does not come in the OEM color. Plastic dip because I'm not sure if I want it permanent.


What do you think of this:


Plastic dip spray first. Then spray it with OEM color paint. (Then clear coat) So it's a perfect match. Since the bottom coat is plastic dip, it should peel off as it should, correct?


Will paint on top of plastic dip will crack (because plastic dip is "soft"), you think?


Let's say white plastic dip and OEM diamond pearl white. If there are some cracks, it still looks white, and wouldn't stand out, you think?

I think it might last if you put the additive in the OEM color paint to make it flexible.

I've used plasti dip before... I personally will NEVER use that crap again. I know people have had good experience with it... I did the whole car and rims... If you don't have enough coats, like 4-7 coats on it good luck trying to remove it... It will come off in pieces. If you go to there website they do sell a "solution" that makes it "easier" to remove the plasti dip. Also on their website they have WAY more selections to choose from.

Plasti-dip is great stuff. I do it on the side and it can easily last a couple years if taken care of properly.

Essentially, anyone that has an issue with it, installed it wrong. Plain and simple. And then they go online, bashing the product. Due to their ignorance and negligence.

Also, do not paint anything over plasti-dip. That is something that is well-documented, both on their official site and their youtube videos.

Sounds like you need to do more research of your own.

paint wont last over plasti dip, just do something custom or suck it up and paint them.

Have you plasti dipped an entire car before?

Just curious to know how many gallons of spray I might need to cover my 1999 Honda CR-V. I'm just doing it in Black. I was told about 5-7 coats. Kind of depends on what kind of gun I'm using and how much product is coming out on each coat.

Still debating on which gun. I've seen that DYC spray gun direction from dipyourcar.com but it seems pricey considering the specifications on that gun.

Some people have been suggesting the Wagner Control Spray MAX is a good starter gun, cost $100-$120. While the DYC spray gun cost $150, has less psi, and less uh.. something else, less powerful motor or something.

THis is all new to me.

When you paint over plastidip, it has a harder time peeling off. It is a real pain in the butt. Either plastidip it or paint it, not both.

It can be done but I've heard that it is a PITA to remove a paint over plastidip finish.
