Painting my 97 accord

Painting my 97 accord
My 1997 Accord SE has a terrible, peeling clear coat. The privies owners did not take proper care of it cosmetically, outside and inside. I went to maaco and got a quote for around 800 (single stage with UV protection).
Car when I got it a year ago
As summer rolled by, I decided to give it a shot and paint my car myself.
I didn't have a da sander, so I used my craftsman lol. I started with 120 and worked my up to 320. I tried doing some bodywork using Rage by Evercoat.
Overall it went pretty smoothly. I had to buy a compressor and a spray gun as well. I went to Harbor freigh and got a HVLP spray gun and a 10 gallon 2.5 compressor. It worked well for my primer and was just enough. The primer if got was from my local paint supply store called shopline.
I taped only one side thinking I will spray one side first, and then let it dry while taping the other side.
Little did I know that my primer hardener cap would come off and empty into a quart of it, so I had to put the quart back in the 3/4 of a gallon, mix it up and spray the car at the same time. So the other side of my car has a lot of overspray that I can't get off.
After priming it I saw about a dozen small indentations though out the body, I had to sand those spots down and fill it with bodyfiller. I then reprimed the area.
I proceeded to sand the car at 400 dry, 500 wet and 600 wet.
I also got 2 quarts of PPG OMNI fiji Blue Pearl.
I'm waiting for my Summit clearcoat to come in the mail and I will finish my car!
So far i spent around $800 lol

If it is dull in them area's it means that not enough paint transferred to them areas maybe you pulled the gun away and did a lighter spray or something. I would do another coat you can go up to 3 coats, factor paint generally has around 6 depending on the brand. Then wet sand and buff out but that's just my two cents.

I've got some bad news.
The basecoat didn't adhere to my primer well enough. I'm some spots the paint is chipping off
Not sure why, I think it's because I should have waited longer for mineral spirits to evaporate

Worst case scenario you can add another coat of clear. Might as well try to cut and buff first and if it doesn't work then you'll burn the clear and end up having to repaint anyways. Godlike and hope the cut and buff works! Be gentle as you only get one shot to get it right. Use a block to sand evenly.

Ouch! After spending so much time and effort this happens. Its such a bummer but atleast not the end of the world now that you atleast know how to do paint. It could also be you laid the first coat of paint too wet without letting it adhere good to the primer or maybe just skipped sanding that area of primer. Regardless you should be able to sand the affected area with 400 till the paint evens out and stops flaking and just sand the whole panel with 600 and repaint and reclear... should be ok.

where to start... Epoxy... Your missing your adhesion promoter, your primer has nothing to stick to and your base coat has nothing to really stick to. You should of sprayed epoxy after you sanded your surface, then base while that's still in the range for you to have chemical adhesion. You have things called flash times and they need to be followed pretty well. Not trying to harp you just letting you know where you went wrong. Also you want to mask the whole car at once not just half. You also might have haze in your clear because Summit clear isn't meant to work with PPG paint or you have dry paint dust causing issues.

oh yeah I now know all the mistakes I made. I also washed the car after spraying primer as well.
however I learned a lot, and maybe I'll try painting it again!
