Default Seam sealer

Working on the bay in my car and was about to grind out all the pounds and pounds of seam sealer Honda puts in there. Just wanted to know what I need to do after i get it all grinded/sanded out is?

What do you want to do? Put in new seam sealer? Prime the bare metal? Use filler to smooth the joints? etc etc.....

i just want to smooth the seams out, and was wondering if i needed to put sealer back over what i ground out or can i just body fill it and smooth it out, then sand prime it?

Body filler can go on bare metal, so you could do that. You should also be able to find sandable seam sealer....so either way, haha

so nothing structurally will be at risk with grinding out all the seam sealer ?

No, the seam sealer is just there to prevent leaks and rust. Spot welds take care of the structural part.

thought that the should be someting over the seams so if you gind it all of you should put something to protect it.

if you take out all seam sealer, and spread body filler in the seam the body fill will crack. moisture finds its way though.

flexing will also be there as well, seam sealer is a better choice.
