Hatchback maaco Paint job build thread!!
K so ill i heard or read up is that maaco sucks. So...... Imma finally figure it out.
I have done all the boddy work(took about 2 weeks)
Here are some pics over time.
The total cost is $419 w/ clear coat and door jams not done (I have a friend)
THESE ARE PHONE PICS SO NOT THAT GREAT OF QUALITY!!!!!!!!!!!
Painted the Valve color with that wrinkle paint
2 Weeks of hard work
My Buddy Drank a little too much!!!
I Had to have some Fun
Got the 96 spec 4 lug itr rims sand blasted
Picked up some HID Projectors
Now car is in the paint booth. I took it in on Friday(May, 16 2008) and its supposed to be done (May, 20 2008) in the morning i can pick it up.

O!!!! and the color is the s2k laguna blue.
AND THE WAIT IS ON!!!!!
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM FOR ANYBODY
The paint had runs on my driver door and my passenger side fender. the oversprayed on almost everything. the didnt wash the car before they painted so i have chunks of crap in the paint. In the rear quarter panel there is a damn hair in my paint WTF. The painted my exhaust blue and i was standing there staring at it and he asked me if i wanted him to black it out and i said you can do that you have time and he said ya so he went in the shop and grapped a can of black spray and painted my exhaust!!!!!
But you get what you pay for!!!
then i get my car back and it runs like crud well it turns out my ecu is shot so now shoppin for an ecu!
$420

Re: Hatchback maaco Paint job build thread!! (Stunna AARON)
WOW i took mine to maaco and for $617 mine turned out amazing. i was on edge about taking it to them, from all the stories i heard, but turned out better than i expected. couple problems was a bubble on the roof, and the mirrors are gritty feeling and i can see the color it was from previous (bright *** orange)
so i guess nothing really turns out the way you want :/
did you get a warranty??
i got a 4 year warranty with mine, so i can take it back if anything.
but with all the problems yours has, they should of taken it back right away.
i was told to take my car for 2 weeks and let it get sun, and then bring it back and they'd fix the problems...
man the maaco out there is mmeeaaannn!
here's how mine turned out

WTF?!? why did you strip the paint off of your hood or any other part of the car???
you should NEVER mess with OEM paint unless it's severely rusted or peeling beyond repair. OEM paint is baked at more than 300 degrees. it's on there for good.
anyway, Maaco sucks hardcore. it's a complete joke to any of us who are real painters at reputable shops. sorry you had to find out the way you did.

Ha ha, oh man.
Want to hear a funny story about Maaco.... the short short version is that the first car I ever owned, I prepped it, took it to maaco, and they painted it the wrong color.
Crazy stuff, I couldn't believe my eyes.... I think it's safe to say that I'm a customer that's not going to be going back.

*Quick tip I learned about Maaco*
- Prep your car really good.
(Which reminds me...Did you wet sand the primer?)
- Have Maaco do the paint job.
- After that take it to a GOOD paint shop and have them do 2 or 3 coats of clearcoat.
Maaco obviously has a bad rep but in all honesty they just slack on the prepping. If you make sure to go over every single thing and do it perfect when prepping then you should be ok. You also have to look at the fact that your spending a couple/few hundred bucks on a paint job when some places charge up to or past $2000/3000.
