im deciding to paint my ej coupe all Matte or Satin Black, not sure if it's "ricer", but i like that kind of flat black look.................any one got any good tips on painting it that color?......and NO im not gonna do that lame wack spray can ****......................................im gonna post my ride soon of how it is right now, it's pretty much stock.

Prep, prep and more prep. Keep your area very clean, because you can't wetsand/buff any dust nibs you may get. It's a you get what you shoot, one time deal. It is pretty difficult to blend into as well. Stick with a single stage urethane, use a good urethane or poly primer surfacer under it.

how do i prep the bumpers?........there the plastic polyurethane ones

Many companies make a special plasti-primer for bumpers. I suggest using that. Bulldog sells plastic adhesion promoter in aerosols that actually works pretty well.

I just finished painting my friends EF. We did it flat rio red. I opted for using ppg paint. He did it a little cheaper than I would have, but it worked out well. PPG sells a flatening (sp) agent that you mix right into your paint (for our singlestage) or clear. It worked really well and sprayed very smooth. Ill post a pic

I have a 94 Sol Si with non rattle can satin black paint and it looks great on these cars. So easy to clean, just as long as you DO NOT use any soap with wax in it. Also, when wiping it down, do not put hard pressure in one spot too long, or it can cause it to buff and shine too much. I just use Pledge lemon dust spray on it, or Windex with micro cloth works great. The worst part of this kind of paint, is finger marks from the oil and grease show up easy. The pledge will help it from happening though.

I will post some more better pics later when I get to my external drive. It is pretty dark, with a slight sheen to it. If you go flat, then there will be zero sheen and look closer to a primer job. To protect it better, or to give it a little more sheen, you can shoot a light clear over it designed for flat/satin/matte paint.
Just have to make sure that you get off any bird crap or any other liquid off of it quick. It will mark/etch up fast and impossible to get out since you cannot buff these paint jobs.

Sick!!..........so then putting some good clear coat will make it darker?.............i also heard the flat black paint for Grills works well also, LOL!!

Not too sure about that, mine does not have a clear on it. The clear will make it glossy unless you use a flat clear. Satin paint has a really nice smooth texture, matte will have a little more grainy feel and flat is just that.
This is the way I think of the differences:
Flat = egg shell dullness, fighter jet finish.
Matte= plastic finish on keyboards etc. or automotive trim.
Satin = a tad more reflective than matte, anodized metal, or coated handgun finish.
Gloss = glass look, oem paint.
