Advice for two tone paint job
my civic is red, and i want to paint the center of the hood, and the area between the rubber on the roof, and the trunk and rear bumper yellow, and a stripe from the rear bumper to the bottom of the front fender.front behind the tire.
do i spray the whole car red, and then tape off the areas for stripes?

Re: Advice for two tone paint job (tortis)
you know that color combination is gonna make your car look like the arches at a certain fast food place!! jmo...... I would rethink the yellow for white or black.... if your car is already red tape off what you don't want yellow scuff the paint.... spray the color and then the clear. I hope your not doing it with a rattle can.

Re: Advice for two tone paint job (tortis)
A friend of mine did a two tone on his eg coupe starting just below the trunk, flowing down and ending at the bodyline in front of the front tire on the front bumper. They painted the whole car kandy-ish copper metallic, then for the split, they painted the top section with a dark tinted clear. In the sunlight it looks like a root-beer color that has a hard separation from the bottom copper metallic, but it flows very well. There are tons of paint tricks you could use on a multicolor stripe patterns. Don't forget you can do awesome stuff with pinstripe work to separate the colors and give it some style and pull the colors together at the same time.

How about red and a dark pewter, like desert silver off of the rsx? that could look good.
As for how to do it yes paint the car red, then mask off the stripe, paint it, then umask it, rub the paint edge down to make the clear cover better, clear it, then sand and buff. You might want to do a pinstripe too, that makes the seperation look waaay cleaner.
