Dodge Dart price announced & first pics from Detroit show
http://www.dartoc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3
This thing looks nicer in these real life pics than the leaked press pics that's for sure.
Great starting price - $15,995.
This should sell boatloads over boring alternatives like the Cruze and some of the boring Japanese compacts.

No thanks...
If it was $15,995, stripped down, RWD and had a V8 in it maybe... The Dart is just the new Dodge Neon basically.

the exterior is very bland and regular dodge styling. the tails are the same as the new chargers, the interior looks semi nice. this is just a replacement for the neon, caliber, etc....

Not bad. I like some of it. I mean, as far as modern cars go. I think the front end would look better on a slightly more stubby car.
The accessories they show reminds me of Scion and the "OE aftermarket" type thing they do/did.
I also think it's more fair to think of it as the new long chassis Neon replacement, and don't pay as much attention to the name's history as they're not really comparable vehicles.

To be honest, Dodge really didn't pull great crowds at their displays when compared to most of the other manufacturers at the event. I don't think this has been a concept car for long enough to be at last year's event in Miami, though.
Oh, I'm definitely in agreement there bud. If you ask me, the only Dodge revival of late that looks relatively similar to its ancestor is the Challenger.

Motor Trend reports that Chrysler may forsake the Dodge Challenger for a resurrected Barracuda. The magazine cites two unnamed sources as saying the nameplate will surface in time to celebrate the vehicle's 50th anniversary in 2014. If true, the Barracuda will ride on a new smaller and lighter platform that's more fit to compete with the likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro. The vehicle's bones will likely be shared with Alfa Romeo, which means a turbo four-cylinder may show up behind the Barracuda headlights as well as a fire-breathing V8. MT suggests the design may pull from the original fastback Barracuda, though a notch-back version would allow Chrysler to more effectively compete against the drop-top hardware from Ford and Chevrolet.
We have no doubt Chrysler and Fiat are currently investigating ways to breathe new life into the Challenger. The vehicle has been content to plod along as a distant third to its muscle-car rivals, but pulling the Barracuda name back into play seems unlikely. For starters, the Barracuda sailed under the long-dead Plymouth banner, and both Dodge and Chrysler have a long list of hallowed names from which to choose. Stay tuned.

bring us that! absolutely gorgeous...instead we get this neon/stratus/charger mashup
this was just released at detroit. apparently according to motor trend dodge is considering eliminating the challenger to revive the barracuda to compete with the mustang and camaro. someone at dodge needs a swift kick in the nuts.

Re: Dodge Dart price announced & first pics from Detroit show
what i cant understand is why companys keep bringing back cars from the 60's and 70's and completely turning them away from their original design. when dodge came out with the new charger and i saw that it was a 4 door it made me sick. then they added all the packages. the r/t package, superbee package, daytona package. i mean really? none of those were meant to be in a 4 door family car. the duke boys would be ashamed. and so am i for that matter.
