strange burning smell from rear end of 05 crv
I have a 05 CRV and if I drive for about 10 minutes, when I come back home and park I smell something burning from the rear of the car? Its not brakes, its a different smell than that. I have had the brakes off and they are good. I thought that a bag was wrapped around he muffler or somehing but I cant see anything wrong? its not leaking any fluid either? Any ideas?

Re: strange burning smell from rear end of 05 crv
I've got the same problem on my 2005 crv. The smell is coming from the rear passenger side wheel. Now it's winter time and when it's very cold I can see smoke coming from the passenger side rear wheel but nothing from the one on the driver side.
If somebody have an idea it would be great
Thanks
Well after some reading it seems almost normal http://www.automotivehelper.com/topic175126.htm

Re: strange burning smell from rear end of 05 crv
All, I have an 06 and just came back from the dealer with the same problem. They told me it was the heat from the exhaust heating the plastic and rubber parts around it that gives off the smell. They did check the breaks and nothing was wrong. I was looking online when I found this forum and thinght I would add my 50 cents in on the subject. I'm suprised no one has heard of this before.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Hi thanks for your reply.
No I have absolutely no noise what's so ever?
It's been looked at by 3 mechanics who all have found nothing. Would they notice if it was a wheel bearing? I hope to God that's what it is? Thanks again
