Odyssey Dome Disco Light
My dome light is flashing like a disco ball!
It is a pretty cool effect but trying to drive at night is....annoying to say the least.
The car is a 2003 Honda Odyssey with 225,000 miles. My wife drives it and I have the responsibility for maintenance.
The door ajar indicator on the dash blinks showing the driver's door is open and the relay clicks activating the interior lights.
Cleaning the door switch didn't solve the problem. After all the use, the simple switch may have just been beaten to death.
The switch arrived and the flickering stopped - it shows the door open all the time! The doors will not lock, the remote will not lock the doors when one of the doors is ajar. The switch operates when you push it closed with your finger, just not when the door closes.
So the switch is just not closing enough to break the circuit. Aha moment!
My wife has been slamming the door with the seat belt buckle in the way for ten years gradually pounding in that section where it would no longer activate the switch. After taking the door card off and banging the metal back it works fine. Now I just need to fix the problem causing the problem.
