ok who tows here with they're Pilot? I think this has been covered. I know the capacity for an auto trailer is rated for 4500. But I 've heard alot of conflicting info recently.

I plan on towing my CRX track car from now on and am concerned about towing a full open trailer and the CRX. U-haul won't even rent me a full trailer only a dolly set up.

I've never actually towed anything with my Pilot, but the CRX and the trailer ought to weigh less than 4k combined.

ive seen team honda use a pilot to tow a 00 civic and they use the pilot to tow others cars as well. the back end will sag a bit if you dont like that there are air helpers that you could install inside the spring.

but its crap that u-haul won't even rent me a full trailer. It means I would have to buy one (which I don't have the space for) or dolly

I've heard mainly that the tranny is abit on the weak side for towing.

very intersting because i m thinking about buying a 01,02 MDX! right now i have 92 toyota land cruiser ( use too much gas) about 11-12 mpg and i do use it for towing a dolly with a crx/ ef 4 door! i never check with u haul to see if i can rent a trailer but it is a full size trunk.
now i m thinking about sell the toyota and get a mdx doing to samething towing a crx or a 4 door!
what do u guys think????

I have an 03 MDX and probably would not put my Integra (2800lb) on a full trailer.

The trailer itself can weigh well over 1500 lb plus the weight of your CRX (2000? with parts).

You might get by with a good set of brake pads and a larger trans cooler than comes with the hitch package. However, you may be at the limits and you would need a good trailer braking controller to balance things out.

Myself, I will use a dolly with my current MDX. If I had a new MDX or Ridgeline, I would use a trailer as they are both rated at 5000lb.

I don't recall off the top of my head but I don't think the Pilot's came with A/T coolers like the Ridgeline, I'd defently add one before deciding to tow anything substantial.

they didn't. you have to add a trans cooler and pwer steering cooler if you have a hitch on your Pilot. plus you need them so Honda would honor the warranty if you ever had a tranny issue.

I am debating on trying a dolly set up one time. I'm just leary of having my CRX "hang" on for life to a dolly and have my Pilot do all the braking. I would def be under the tow limit if I dolly or be at the limit if I do a full trailer.

i hate to see my mdx/pilot wont able to tow a trailer! i may just have to buy a Qx4 instead
