Hey Guys,

I just recently lost my Toyota Tacoma and am looking for a replacement. I came across a fairly cheap 99 Honda Passport ($6800), and I'm wondering what you guys think of the passport. I dont know too much about them at all, but I need something that is reliable and I can stick all my surfboards in and crud like that. Any known mechanical problems or stuff I should look into?

YES! honda rebadged it. almost seemed like they had a trade or something.

isuzu gave them the rodeo which honda rebadge and renamed it passport...
honda gave them the odyessey which isuzu rebadged and renamed it oasis.

You mean Rodeo. The Acura SLX is the rebadged Trooper.

A cheaper Pilot than a Passport!? NO, the Pilots have only been out for 4 years. I highly doubt there are any Pilots that will compare in price.

x2. two of friends have them and they suck. suspension sucks. the ride sucks. the power sucks. everything about them sucks.

what is your budget? how about a 4-Runners? Ever think about Jeeps? Wranglers? Grand Cherokees?

Look into Pathfinders instead (biased opinion) but they are much better than the Rodeos/Passports

THanks for the input guys, my tacoma got totalled, some dude didn't look and took a left turn right into my truck. I've honestly been looking at everything, I hate american cars, so I've been trying to get another tacoma, but in hawaii they are really expensive. 4runners are as well. I definitely won't be getting a passport then. I may have to suck it up and get this used MDX touring for 18k...

No, I didn't mean it that way. I meant can he find a cheaper Pilot than later model Pilots. i.e. can he find an 03 or 04 (whatever was the first year) that is like 9-10k or less? I would be willing to put out an extra 2-3k for a Pilot than get a cheap Passport.

My dad had a passport for maybe 5 or so years, it was used. It was very reliable, I don't recall it ever being in the shop for anything mech wise, besides the regular mat.

ot: I just got back from Hawaii and all the cars pretty much sucked. I saw a teal boosted EG on bronze rotas, which was probably the best. And it's like a 6 in Cali

yea dont get a pissport you'll have lots of headache in the long run hate working on them at my dealership(honda)
