Composites Fab Kevlar/Carbon Fiber Hoods! Vacuum Infused CHECK IT OUT
Composites Fab Kevlar Hoods!! These are very high quality carbon/kevlar hoods.
Here are the applications that will be availilble
99-00 Civic ----- 14.7lbs
96-98 Civic ------ 14.7lbs

05-UP TSX ----- 14.9lbs
They will also be offered in the JDM 1x1 weave, normal twill, red kevlar, yellow kevlar, and blue kevlar.
Vacuum Infused to perfection. We do not open mold these like the other companies do. These are all Manufactured with the very RARE Dual Twill Fabric.
Here is a video to show our process and how it differs from the rest
Most carbon parts are made open molded. This means the materials are put in the mold and resin is added by brush or roller and it sits open air to cure. This is considered the manufacturing standard for most companies. About 95% of all carbon fiber parts are manufactured this way and is the cheapest yet easiest way to make them. This process makes brittle, resin rich heavy parts. The more resin you have in a part the heavier and weaker it becomes. They also use ok materials but mostly second rate polyester resins from overseas. We use hybrid resins and surface coats that are made for us and all our surfaces are UV resistant so your part will not fade or yellow. Our manufacturing process is a form of Vacuum Infusion Molding. In this process all the materials are put in the mold dry, and some other specially designed items are also put in. The laminate is then put under intense vacuum and pressure and the specially designed resin is then injected into the laminate rather then brushed in like wet layup. Utilizing atmospheric pressure the resin travels through the laminate and excess resin flows right back out. This achieves a very desirable high fiber-to-resin ratio, not achievable under hand laminating methods, which can almost double the hand laminate strength and makes a relatively lighter piece as well. This is almost same resin content to pre-preg carbon fiber or known as dry carbon. Finally our process is cleaner and safer. Resins are highly volatile and emit a gas that is over time toxic and very flammable. Our closed molding is very clean and no gas is emitted. Our working environment for our employees is very pleasant in that respect due to this.

Using all STAINLESS STEEL latches!! Not fiberglassed into the hood!
Here is a couple hoods we made for the TSX
CONGRAT TO I-MOTORACING for their magazine spread sporting an original Composites Fab Kevlar hood!

Re: Composites Fab Kevlar/Carbon Fiber Hoods! Vacuum Infused CHECK IT OUT (carbonall)
Quality looks very impressive. However I'm wondering if you can offer a weight comparison between your hood and the stock metal hood. If you could include a typical CF hood (seibon, ViS, FI, etc.) that would be even better.
Just wondering because it sounds like the process you use will result in a significantly lighter hood...
Also what's the price for an EG hood?

I will get one on the scale and here is a link to hood weights

Re: Composites Fab Kevlar/Carbon Fiber Hoods! Vacuum Infused CHECK IT OUT (carbonall)
EK street carbon hood 14.7lbs I use the same amount of materials as most hood companies in my hood but the reason why they lighter and stronger is because we use less resin. The more resin you have the heavier and more brittle you part will be. Since we infuse them, any excess resin is sucked out.
EK
Stock - 32lbs
VIS CF OEM - 16lbs
Composites Fab CF OEM - 14.7lbs
Our race hoods with a foam core are quite light. Around 7-8lbs

Re: (Stealth1)
Estimate on a 96-98 dual twill hood (blue kevlar and cf), and time frame when it will be available, please.
Just to clear things up: ViS, and Seibon DO NOT use vacuum infusion for sure? (just wondering)
Thanks.

150% sure
You can tell from looking at the surface of the back and the way the carbon looks if it is infused or even bagged down. Seibon and ViS hoods are made in the same factory so same manufacturing process
