Default Want to slow down my turn signals

I just changed my turn signal bulbs to LED bulbs because they are brighter.... well now I have high speed flashers. Loved them in 2001 but I am looking for a solution without having to cut the harness to get my turn signals back to a normal flashing rate.

Anyone have a solution to my problem?

Thanks for your help!

http://www.customled.com/products/lo..._equalizer.htm found this, has anyone used this? Is there an alternative to this?

Thanks!

The alternative is to change the resistor in the flasher unit itself. Using a potentiometer instead of a static resistor will allow you to adjust it as well.

Thanks TunerN00b. What are the specs on the resistor that I need to change and how involved is it to change this?

Thanks!

You solder new wire leads on both sides of the existing resistor. Use a multimeter to find the current resistance value, and know that you'll have two in parallel if you don't remove the existing one. Base the pot value off of that.

If that is too "electrical engineer" for you, then this mod might be best skipped. In which case, look for a plug in box to allow normal flashing rate with LEDs. These are readily available.

That said, I've never seen an LED that was actually brighter than halogen bulb for turn signals. Many claim to be, but none seem to actually be.

I'll second that! LED bulbs are only beneficial because they use less power and can turn on/off instantly for quicker visual response, but they are definitely not any brighter. If anything, they are dimmer....

To fix the fast blinking I personally always solder in resistors made for LED bulbs into the OEM wiring. They are all over eBay (VLEDS and HyperLEDs always have fast shipping and great service).

auto zone sells the resistors for cheap. They have a long white rectangular piece with 2 black wires at each end. Used them and they work well when I converted to LED.
