Default More boost on the stock K20: 697whp is close enough, right?

After over a year of abuse at 600whp+ or so, I decided to make some changes to my personal car again, and turn the boost up a little more.

I ditched the 255/044, 6AN fuel feed setup, and replaced the intake manifold, charge piping, and intercooler.

Here's the new setup:
100% stock bottom end K20A2
Stock head bolts (head has never been removed)
Stock K20A2 cams
SuperTech valve springs / retainers
AFI intake manifold / Edelbrock 76mm TB
Full-Race top-mount T3/v44 manifold
Garrett T3/T67 H.O. turbo, .82 AR
3" IMW-Spec side-exit downpipe
TiAL v44 wastegate
3" IMW-Spec charge piping
AFI 900hp Garrett-core intercooler
Twin in-tank 340lph Xenocron fuel pumps
Injector Dynamics 2,000cc injectors
Competition Clutch "A" twin disc
Stock EP3 transmission

Tuned with Hondata K-Pro on regular E85 from the Sheetz gas station across the street from my shop.

The dyno sheet everybody likes to see:

The car:

Size: 88.3 KB
]Name: 2013-03-23180210.jpg
Views: 7824
Size: 65.7 KB

And a video of the last pull, excuse the profanity at the end.

Could have done another run or so with the AFR's leaned out a bit more than 11.2-11.4, but decided to call it there.

697whp @ 28psi, with my old, tired, stock engine (probably 100k or so on it right now) on a fuel I get from the pump.

Good stuff.

It's important to note that your setup is the exception not the rule. I'd hate for noobs getting a k and thinking 700whp is "easy" with bone stock K.

Locally in MN, i think the highest powered stock K was 601whp on e85, but eventually threw a rod. He did drive his car pretty hard.

Thanks for sharing.

Oh, most certainly. This is the only stock engine I have tuned at this kind of power.

The car has been over 400whp since 2009, over 500whp since 2010, over 600whp since 2011, and the car gets abused every single time it is fired up.

The key to making these things live at those power levels is really the fuel choice, and the late-emerging torque curve. The rods wouldn't like the onslaught of torque at a lower RPM one bit.

please elaborate if you dont mind. I think i understand but want to be sure. Does it have to do with the slower crank rotation speed at lower rpm so the force on the rod would be sustained longer?

Boost ramps in slowly @5000rpm its got around 7psi thats where the boost really starts to climb 5500rpm its got around 14psi 6000 its got 19psi

wow.thats all that comes to mind right now. i like the fact that this motor has seen such high power levels for so many years and still going strong. that speaks volumes for the tune.

The real question, is this power usable?

Fourth gear sticks 28-29psi on the street with the R888's.

I can throw 21psi or so at it in third.

Good stuff. Is this E85.Any quarter mile times? I'm in the process of piecing together a kit. Was hoping for 600ish hp with stock a2 as well. Currently make 241 with unopened long block.

I would love to see some runs of this car, I'm curious to see how that powerband pulls.

No LSD.

The engine powered my 2,760lbs. car to 11.0 @ 139mph last November with 637whp. Yes, E85.
