Coming out the bottom looks pretty neat. I'd read about it before I pulled my motor but I ended up going out the top. I might try it putting it back in.

It was just as simple putting the engine in from the bottom for me as pulling it. Imo its easier to line up the mounts and easier to roll away from the car with the engine.

Sold the shell a couple days ago for 600 bucks and ordered new egk2 mounts with u88a inserts. Also ordered a new dash harness for the EG. Since I'm off work all of next week I should have this little red rocket going soon!

stay tuned for more pics as I gut the EG hatch and turn it into a K powered beast!

Unfortunately my parts are yet to come in the mail. looking for tomorrow to be a better day. The interior is gutted and all interior is for sell minus front seats and dash. engine bay setup to mount my k20 in place and the front was modified for the mishimoto radiator I had in my previous setup.

to be continued...

So a huge update is in order. I don't have pics uploaded and I'm at work so that's for another day. However I now have the k20 in the EG hatch. The engine bay sadly is the same stock paint and a little black paint from where I cut into bare metal but I waited 3 weeks to be able to paint it and make it nice so I could put the engine in but it rained every chance I had to work on it so for now, screw it.

The cabin is still gutted and has been completely cleaned out and all brackets to the rears seats are removed and cleaned up. Paint will be either a gloss black or oem red not sure yet. opinions are welcome. before I paint it I'll be mocking up a 12 gallon aluminum fuel cell, bosch 044 pump, 2 filters, tank vent and return, and off course a 10 point roll cage. then it all comes out (minus the cage lol), prep and spray interior and so forth.

The engine is complete in the car but I'm not getting a signal to my fuel pump. in Kpro I have the immobilizer disabled and it ran fine in the last car I had. I talked to K tuned yesterday to confirm all my wiring on the swap harness is correct and while I was on the phone I did a test by grounding the green/yellow wire pin 7 in stock ECU connector A to force the fuel pump to prime and nothing happened. at first I thought my cars harness was good to go but after yesterday afternoon I discovered the wiring harness has been butchered several times. I have checked all the fuse's in the cabin but I forgot to check the fuses in the engine bay so that's the first thing I will do tomorrow.

So at this point I am searching for a fuel pump wiring diagram and will be tracing it all down to see if I will have to replace the oem wiring harness. Shew. then with a little luck I can find a small flaw in the fuel pump wiring and fix it rather than pulling the dash for a new harness.

If anyone has the diagrams I need I would sure appreciate it.

The odd part of it all is that the car ran before. I literally drove it home so the fuel pump had to be priming properly then. Maybe I made a small mistake but Ill be going over it all again soon enough and will update as soon as the car is running.

Ok so I found the problem with the fuel pump and now the car is running and has good fuel pressure. If I tell you what was wrong you cant laugh.......I forgot to ground the fuel pump. when I moved all the wiring in the cabin to clean I forgot to hook the ground back up.

Now on to the next thing....I have put the front seats back in the car and hooked up all of the cabin wiring and cables and will be making a test run at Thunder Valley either next Thursday or the following Thursday. I would like a base line for comparing to once the car is fully built with a GT3584r looking for somewhere around 550whp.

Oh and by the way its not just a GT3584r its an Interceptor from Shodans "Speed Trapp Consulting" I should be ordering this beast by next Friday to start my Turbo build parts list.

So today I burped the coolant and found out that I wired in the radiator fan signal from the wrong wire but its just a small bump. Tomorrow I will be switching the rad fan signal to the blue/black and black wire on the stock harness from the black/red and black, mounting the shifter plate, and adjusting the stop on the throttle to compensate for idle speed due to deleting the Iacv.

By the way I constantly had issues with the Idle air control valve until I disabled it in Kpro and made my own block off plate. It blows my mind how well it runs without it.

Its supposed to rain tomorrow but if it doesn't I'll definitely take the car out for a good solid test drive and try to get a video posted.

Well I got everything together and running. The radiator fan power wire isn't working so it received a toggle switch for testing. I burped the coolant and went straight to the track.

First time ever hitting the quarter mile and ran a 14.8 in a quarter. I cant remember the speed but I had two people in the car and bald tires but it was a blast. by the time I started figuring out how to launch it started raining so no super good reaction times for me.

OK....I'M WAY OVERDUE FOR A PHOTO UPDATE!

First of all everything except for the radiator fan relay is working on the car. Cant seem to track down the issue with it but we will get there!

So a big shout out to my buddy David for getting the exhaust from my old hatch to work on the new EG shell. Contrary to popular belief the EG and EK dont share the exact same exhaust routing. The EG is a tad shorter so it presents a slight issue. and my piping was a little hard to reroute around the rear LCA but David got the job done while I mounted and balanced new tires for the Track!

Had to get a glamour shot! haha this was a week before the photos up there ^^^^

And here she is getting her first bath after the build!

On the way to the track! Still dont have corner lights but they are ordered.

Staging lanes were loaded!

Gotta give this guy a shout out for helping me with my reaction times. I had never drag raced before so he knew I was wet behind the ears but he was nice enough to share a little knowledge! His build consisted of an S-10 with a 454 v8, high rise intake with dual holley 4 barrels making 570whp. The back window sticker said and I quote "NO BOOST, NO BOTTLE, ALL ***** AND THROTTLE" haha but for real its nice to meet good people at events like this.

And what you all have been waiting for in this update! I was on the right lane. reaction time could have been better but I think its a pretty good run for a stock K20a2 with Kpro and cheap street tires.

Here is a video from the stands. its not the same run as ^^^ but its close to the same time "14.4" The green hatch was running a boosted LS. In staging he asked me what I had. When I said a K20a2 he was like well I guess you'll see how it runs against a turbo LS. I said what turbo are you running and his response was "its a t3/t4 hybrid". To me this screamed Ebay turbo kit so I was eager to see how it would turn out and well just watch....

Don't know if that YouTube embedding will work so if it dont heres a direct link

Im just two race days in and I'm already addicted to the sport! I'm getting anxious to do the turbo build soon but its just overwhelming how much cash I will have to come up with for supporting mods much less the turbo build.

Your car looks good! That was a nice run against the green car!
Once I get my car going again I want to start saving for a turbo. It's a lot of money, but comparing it to getting a 4piston head and the stuff to go with it it's really a better bang for the buck.

Yeah I know turbo is for sure the route I will be taking. My goals for now is a build around 550whp on E85 but later when my engine grows tired I will build it and hope for more like 670-700whp which is why I chose the turbo in my earlier posting. Its gonna be a long road but realistically it shouldn't cost but a couple more grand than the swap did.

Its a nice one for sure man. Its Thunder Valley in Bristol TN. From what I'm told the track isn't normally prepped really good except for when NHRA is in town.

So many things have changed the last couple days but I have finally came to realistic terms. I will ordering the TR3030R with a .63A/R from Shodan rather than an Interceptor and I will push for close to 500whp on E85. The fact is 500 is plenty and the price difference on a 500whp build and a 700whp build is roughly 4k not even counting the engine being built.

So finally here she is! I'll be ordering tomorrow!

Also I have already purchased a Walbro 450lph intank and a turbo smart hypergate 45. If seller agrees I will also be buying a turbosmart race port 50mm BOV tomorrow.

THE TURBO BUILD SOON BEGINS AND WILL HAVE ITS OWN THREAD!

Are you going to beef up the motor for the turbo?

For now no. We're gonna beef up the HP and see how long she holds together! Even if it throws a rod one day that's just a good excuse to throw a k24/20 in there with built internals.

Spoke with Shodan all day about the different items I will be needing. He is putting an invoice together for me tomorrow morning and I will be ordering the turbo and some side goodies.

So far I have purchased on here a Walbro 450lph and a turbosmart hypergate 45. If anyone has turbo parts for sell hit me up I may just need them!

Soon as a decent amount of parts are in my possession I will start a new build thread and leave a link here! Anything else I do to the car not pertaining to the turbo setup will still be posted here.

From the threads I've read on boosted k series it seems like they can handle a lot of power on stock internals. It should be fun pushing it to the limit.

I found that I can drop the engine out of the bottom easiest with two jacks on both sides of the car lifting it up. Take off the wheels and you will have plenty of clearance to slide the engine out from the wheel well instead of going that far back lol. Nice job tho.
