1995 k swap eg trouble
i have a 1995 honda civic eg that ran great until now. Recently i have replaced the oil, coolant and tested ect sensor, thermostat. but the car ran rough on start up like it was running of a couple cylinders, this morning i went out and started it, this time started nice crisp i was surprised. so i drove it around the block and came home and pulled it in the drive way and low low idle. this then shut my car off cause it didnt want to stay running. i then started it again this time i had to give it gas to start and then once it started it was blowing out a bunch of smoke. can someone help me with this its getting really frustrating.

When you drained the oil did you look closely to see if there was any metallic sheen to it?
If its idling at a lower than normal speed and doesn't want to keep running that's a good indication you've got a higher than normal friction situation, so DO NOT start it again because you'll just hurt it more than you have already. Take the oil pan off and do an inspection on all the rod bearings. When you drain the oil examine it to see if there's any metal in it. I'm not talking about big chunks, it'll be really small particles that make it look shiny in bright light.
That's the best I can do with such limited information.

Its fairly rare for them to get gunked up to the point they don't work if they're being used constantly, but its a possibility and easy to fix. His is obviously still working to some degree or it wouldn't idle at all.
