Best rwd platform for na k24 build
Got a k24a2 I'm gonna build. K20 head, high compression, k pro, typical power adders to get above 300whp. I wanna mate it to an s2k tranny and go rwd. I'm hung up on what to put it in though. I'm thinking datsun 720, maybe a hardbody. Probably not gonna find an sk2 shell cheap enough, could do an integra/rsx platform and convert it to rwd with s2k rear end and suspension.
I'm trying to stay lightweight and cheap on the shell so I can focus on motor/suspension
I can pick up 2wd Nissan trucks for nothing, yotas hold their value til there is nothing left but a pile of rust. Don't really wanna go with a 240 for the same reason as yota trucks
Obviously wiring on a rwd rsx would be easier, but the task of fabrication would be more work as compared to a rwd truck.

If you want to keep a FR setup, why not the FC RX7? (2nd gen)
They can be had for dirt cheap and are excellent to build on as a platform.
If you're willing to spend a little bit more and go to a midengine layout then consider the MR2 spyder.
In that lane of thought, I've seen a Lotus Exige go for 3800 that was repossesed.
All of these suggestions will run circles around the Datsun 720 and probably any car that's been converted to RWD.

Maybe a bit "boring", but the S13 (200/240sx) is one of the easiest chassis to work with because there are so many good suspension parts to find for every imaginable setup. Not just suspension parts, but pretty much everything. And their cheap to.
I would not use the s2000 gearbox, they are known for being weak. I would find a very strong gearbox with good aftermarket support and make that fit instead. Lot's of people are swapping Supra gearboxes in their S2000, but there are probably better options out there to.
FD RX7 is a good chassis to Probably a bit better (more advanced) chassis geometry stock, but not as many aftermarket options as with the S13 I think.
