96 hatchback Possible Ignition Switch issue?
96 civic hatchback DX
Kswapped with k20a2, k tuned conversion harness, stock ecu with immoblizer delete box from k tuned.
No CEL's
Ok so a couple nights ago I had the hatch out and rode around town for a few hours with the hood off. I parked at chili's to eat and could see the car in plain sight (don't think someone messed with it). came out and the car wouldn't start. When I turn the key to ACC the lights and radio come on as normal and the fuel pump primes. When I turn the key to start the car the gauges and radio turn off for start up as normal but the engine doesn't turn or even try. when the key is released the lights and radio come back as normal. I then roll started the car and drove 1hr and 15mins home with no issue.
So far I have pulled the main relay and although no spots looked rough I resoldered for safe measure. this made no difference. Then I pulled the bumper and attempted to free the started up because it has been hanging up a little at start up but nothing major. I tried pecking the starter while a friend tried turning the key several times and no progress was made. With my research I have done I am considering either trying a new main relay or taking apart my ignition switch to clean it up real nice.
If anyone has any ideas or has experienced this before, Please shed some light.
Thanks, Goldiewang

The fuel pump should not prime in ON(I)/ACC.
For the stock 96 Civic ECU, the main relay has nothing to do with the starter cranking. Not sure the the K20 ECU.
Check the rubber stopper at the top of the clutch pedal.

Ok I felt around the clutch pedal last night but I'll suck it up and craw in the floorboard tomorrow morning. Also I ment ACC as the last position before the cranking position sorry for the misinformation. I'm definitely thinking its a electrical issue as you just stated because I cant even hear the starter try to move.

Ok so today I crawled up and under the dash and found the clutch switch, to test it I unplugged it and bridged the two pins. To my surprise the car fired right up. Thanks RonJ you pinpointed my problem without even seeing it in person.
Now other then the issue of safety would there be any problems leaving the connector bridged because I would rather Just snip the two wires and use a connector to join them because I plan on doing a remote start in the near future.
The big question for me is can it catch fire and burn my garage/house down? lol I don't see an issue because its the same as pressing in the clutch pedal but I just wanted an expert opinion. And thanks again RonJ!

No danger of electrical fire as long as the connection is not bare wire... but this means that you can crank the car without pushing the clutch pedal down, and if it happens to be in gear, you are going for a ride. Be careful and use common sense. Oh, you can get a new plug for the pedal itself and then the switch works again for a couple bucks from Honda.
Part number is: 46505-SA5-000
Tape it to the end of a long flat blade screw driver and then push the clutch pedal into it... pinching the screwdriver blade between the switch plunger and the plug/cushion. Viola' !!! Done.

I have a crimp connector attaching the two wires together right now. I wish I would have soldered but it would be a pita to solder way up under the dash and risk dripping melted lead on myself.
