Wierd squeal from GSR?!
97 CX hatch, gsr swap with 5-speed LS trans.
Before, car ran flawless, no noises or anything.
Just finished putting SI front brakes and rear disc along with steel braided lines.
Now while the car is running it makes a squeal, really high pitched like a belt slipping would make. It sounds like it's coming from the water pump, alt area. Doesn't mater where the RPM's are at or any load on the motor or anything, makes the SAME noise about every 15 seconds, stays on for about 5 seconds or so then stops. But does it consistently. Car never made this noise until after I finished with the brake swap, never touched ANYTHING else in the car.
I have no idea? haha I'm stumped

sitting there idle, and while I'm driving. When the noise is present, I gave it gas, slowed down, let foot of the gas, Nothing I do changes the noise.

eventhough you said you didnt touch anything else before the upgrade to the brake system, did you at least check the belts?
check for cracks, dry old belts, missing teeth ... if everything checks out, buy "belt dressing" and spray it on there then report back

I also noticed the sound still stayed on for it's whole 5 seconds if it make it right before I shut the car off.

Yeah. It's gotta be slipping belts. Since you said it sounds like coming from water pump, I would check the alternator belt. It's the only belt that squeal when engine is idle or on high RPM. A/C belt is obvious when it squeal. Only when A/C turns on.

no A/c. but it doesn't do it all the time. only consistantly, you can literally just about time every time it starts and stops...

i do believe I found it. I have a catch can installed and lines from VC to can, then back to intake and It's shitty hoses so it sucked it flat and was making the squeal. At least I hope, hasn't made a noise since.
