Default Which way to turn the crank pulley bolt?!?!?!?

I have a crank pulley tool, and I'm trying to loosen the crank pulley nut, and I've read all of the searches and posts. But what I'm wondering is, if its like a regular bolt, and if its counterclockwise to loosen, or someone said that it could be clockwise to loosen. Before i start jumping on the breakerbar, I wanna make sure the direction is right. Thanks!

Thanks everyone! Even tho it was a dumb question, and even after I've read all of the posts, I still can't believe how tight the bolt is on there. JEBUS! Oh well, impact didn't work, so time for my fat *** to start jupming on the breaker bar. Haha.

i've had that problem with my ls. the only way you can loosen the bolt is to get a long screw driver or bar with a tip and hold it in the flywheel. the flywheel can not move. while someone is holding the flywheel still...hit the bolt with the impact.

If you have an impact you don't need to hold the flywheel. There's a possibility that even the impact won't take it off, though. In that case make sure the flywheel doesn't move by bolting it down or screwdriver or whatever, and then use the longest breaker bar with the longest pipe you can find.

yea they are by far, the hardest thing to remove.
keep working at it. some people reccomend soaking it in penetrating oil overnight and heating it a little bit with a torch.

If you have a crank pulley tool, put it in the hex crank hole and then spin the crank so that the tool is lodged against something in the car. Lodge it against the frame or the suspension. Then grab a long *** breaker bar and put it so that it is facing downwards. Then slide your legs under from the front of the car and kick it hard.

That bolt is supposed to be torqued to 130 ft/lbs, but I think it is on tighter and after its weathered, it gets even tighter. Good luck, those things are a bitch.

If the motor is out of the car, then just prop the pulley tool against the ground and put the breaker bare at a 45 degree angle from the top. Then jump on it while a friend holds the block still. Luckily I've only had to remove 1 pulley while in the car.

The crank bolt is a b#@ch. I've broken 2 impact grade sockets, a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar, and a 3/8 inch breker bar. luckely they all had lifetime garentees(sp)

impact is the only way to go, it's the only way you can hit it fast enough before the son bitch wants to start turning over

Mine was pretty tough, especially bcause my motor was sitting on the floor of my garage, with no drive train to help stop it from turning over. I tried a huge snap-on impact, three weeks of liquid wrench and two breaker bars. I eventually broke it free by drilling through the edge of the pulley and attaching a chain which I wrapped around a few times and secured. I then jumped on the breaker bar (3rd one) and it broke loose

btw prawjekt cx , do you ever look at Eiss Brother's yard for parts? I'm in Canton and they never have anything I want when I check.
