OBD2 misfire codes on H22A engine
Also posted this in the Prelude forum, but haven't had any responses yet. Wondering if any of you have any info about how to make the OBD2 ECU happy with the H22A JDM engine that has the Crankshaft Position and Top Dead Center sensors mounted in the distributer instead of mounted behind the crank pulley. I'd rather not have to swap the oil pump and adding the correct sensors and pulleys, for cost savings.
As of right now, the car runs fine, but the check engine light is on, and the ECU complains that there is a misfire. The ECU normally determines that the car misfired if it first told the spark to fire, but the crankshaft never accelerated. The engine is not misfiring at any time, this is more of a mis-communication problem.
Any ideas?
