no vtec with USDM ecu, OBD2a JDM b18c
Ok now before anyone tells me to search: when I posted this the search was down. Ok I have a 96 civic ej8 with a b18c. With the JDM ecu the motor runs perfict. I am in the process of getting it legal and so I have been slowly changing over to the USDM parts. I got a 98 USDM obd2a ecu that runs ok except with this ecu I get a vtec code and no vtec with limp mode. I know I dont have a ckf but I expected a cel for that but not the vtec.
So my question is why would I get a vtec malfuntion code(P1259) just on a USDM OBD2a computer? I thought they had the same pin outs as JDM ecus.

does your motor have the vtec pressure switch on the vtec selenoid? if it does not the usdm ecu may be looking for that< and the jdm ecu does not

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by PURPLETERROR aka BIGMATT »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">does your motor have the vtec pressure switch on the vtec selenoid? if it does not the usdm ecu may be looking for that< and the jdm ecu does not</TD></TR></TABLE>
and if that is the case, you can jump the vtec pressure switch wire with the vtec solenoid wire to run the USDM ecu.
