JDM B20B into 98 CRV
Hey guys, im looking for some guidance on this swap im doing
I have a 98 CRV, AWD, Auto, that ive recently installed a B20B from HMO.
First thing i noticed is the distributor, the HMO engine is an 8 pin, the original car has a 9 pin. I did some looking around and found this http://technet.ff-squad.com/ckftrick.htm. No problem, i can wire, so that part is dealt with.
Should i just use the 9 pin distributor? Do both of them have CKP sensors? Or just the 8 pin. Or is it even needed doing the ckf trick?

OK i got it, (bypassed) not rewired to another signal . The CKP will take care of everything.
I appreciate the help guys as i work through this. This is not a rush deal, it can take as long as it takes. Im wanting to learn a few things and get my head back into hondas. I haven't touched anything outside maintenance stuff in 15 years.
Ive got a few other things that need addressing that i have not been able to find anything on by searching. Ill post some pics and questions once i get all my info together.
And if anyone has a FWD crv rear T bracket and auto shift linkage for sale let me know. Apparently those are not the same as the AWD ones.

Everything is running fine, no engine lights. The motor and tranny HMO sent me was super clean. The CRV should be reliable for the next 10 years lol. Thanks again.
Just in case anyone does a search on this...
If you are changing a CRV from AWD to FWD (Auto tranny), you will need the Rear t bracket and shift linkage off a FWD. There are slight differences. But you may be buying those new, FWD's are tough to find in the yards.
