How to torque crank pulley bolt
LS/VTEC pulley went off. Installed new belt, tensioner and keys.
I not have the hex tool. Any trick or advice on how to torque the bolt?

I've heard about this, but this similar at what I use.
I use a 24" pipe wrench on the edge of the power steering belt on the pulley, but after 60-65 lbs it start to slip. I never have this problem before with this method, but now until I reach the torque spec. I don't want to risk the engine.
130lbs per Honda manual. At least I want torque it to 85lbs.

I've had good luck taking the starter out and jamming a crowbar in between the flywheel teeth. If you're careful it works pretty well. Also using an impact is pretty simple, if you generally know what your impact can torque to you can guess pretty well. I'm willing to bet a lot of people just go the guessing impact method, and they actually end up getting them TOO tight.
Like I said, both these ways have worked for me without issues, but I did finally invest in the tool, which is what I should have done in the first place. And now I rest a little easier knowing I've got the exact right toque on there.

make a hex tool. Go to lowes and buy a black pipe T and a reducing coupler that threads into the T and the outside of the coupler will have a hex on it and buy a length of pipe to screw into the other end of the T to act as a reaction arm. Take your pulley with you to the store to get the right sizes. There is a write up on google for this as well. I built one and it works better than the Honda hex tool that I have.
If you need me to i can take a picture of the tool i made.
I also made a tool for the pulleys with holes around the perimeters instead of the hex for my d15z1

DO IT ON ALL FOURS
Re: How to torque crank pulley bolt
Many different ways to do this.

Home-made crank bolt hex tool
Plus there are quite a few pictures on Google Images as well. The "hex pipe" you are looking to buy is called a Pipe Bushing / Reducer (Reducing) Bushing and the rest is only limited by your imagination.

You shouldn't weld or burn galvanized fittings or pipe. It gives off extremely toxic fumes while doing so and can land you in the hospital or even kill you. Only buy black pipe if you are going to be welding on it, even then you should remove the coating or if you must use galvanized then completely remove the galvanizing and have suction venting. Look up Metal Fume Fever...
