Is it possible to keep power steering using the QSD kit? I know it has been done, but is there a certain bracket that you need? Or is there even a way to keep A/C? It is not needed but it would be nice, and if there is a way to keep p/s or a/c let me know!

Ac yes, be prepared to cut the **** out of ur frame. Maybe not w a f20b ac bracket and single pulley.. no ps then(f20b used electric steering)

power steering can be done. I use an MR2 pump, and an installation kit from Karcepts. The kit is designed for K swaps, to be run on the other side, but fits perfect with a B series trans. Only issue is that the new position of the PS reservoir gets in the way of the conventional intake filter location. A honda ps pump would be ideal imo but with the QSD kit you would have to cut out the majority of your framerail. I would like to see this done, but have not so far.

I installed a setup like yours and my steering is Hard to turn with the pump on :/ why? I need some help guys please. the pump is uppside down installed not like the one in the picture? I don't have pressure I think?

And a D-series A/C compressor from a 96-00 civic. It is smaller than the B/H series and offers better clearance.

Also I recommend getting a euro R crank pulley, the one that doesn't have the PS pulley on it..

For the record, all preludes and the accord SiR use a single pelley for the A/C and alternator, there really should not be any framerail clearance issues provided you use the parts above. Especially not on a 6th gen civic, that has the best clearance of all the H2B chassis.


And your best bet for PS is the electric pump from an MR2 or the Accord.

i like this idea. i've been trying to figure out what i was going to do on mine. the electric power steering sounds good too as long as it works good at a dead stop. right now mine (not H2B yet) using a h22 power steering pump at high speed/rpm the steering is very very sensitive. the steering wheel becomes very lights to the touch and i don't like it.

The karcepts PS kit will definitely be a project of mine over the summer. The shorter PS rack of the 2000 civic is nice, and PS really helps on the track when trying to keep a loose car under control.

Did you have to use awfully thick wire for the pump? I've read people are needing to use 2 or even 0 gauge wire.

Ok so from what I have read for the h22a_ guys you purchase a crank pulley and or have yours machined down, the power steering is totally possible I am talking to a shop that will make a custom line or you could use the tegs ps pump ( not a 100% on that), ac is totally manageable with the karcepts plate and custome line from shop. What I still don't get and haven't seen pictures on is for the ek chassis is p/s, a/c, and alternator all on one belt. I don't want to wire up an electric p/s pump. So I just bought a h22a and am going h2b in a ek hatchback. I will be doin trial and error and I am getting tithe bottom of this. Expect a write up. Libertariat can you shoot me a pm on what all you have done to your f2b and where you bought most of your parts. Thanks

I remember someone on the forum has done it, possibly Bense? I know Libertariat has A/C on his H2B, but he's going to add P/S via MR2 pump in the future.

If you cut the frame there would be enough room.

Anything is possible depending on the time/money you'd like to spend.

Pony up and be the first person to do it. I've yet to meet anyone with A/C in an h2b setup like me either. It's probably time you do it.

FYI, it will be significantly cheaper to find an electric PS pump and wire that up and put it wherever you want to. Just put it on a toggle switch in the cabin or leave it on all the time. Plenty of places to draw power from the battery or fuse box.

I've heard the last gen MR2's PS pump has an auto shutoff feature when you're not turning the steering wheel, but I don't know if it's true.

How can you tell you're not overloading your alternator ?

You can't. This is what I dislike about it.

it doesn't overload the alternator at all. a battery gauge is a good idea anyway, but any stock alternator can run the pump no problem.

i have my powersteering pump in line with the crank/alternator pulley, im not sure theres much more room to put an ac compressor there too though

I have an EJ6 with an H2B inside, i have my A/C working great, and about the P/S, I don't have it right now, but there's space for the pump, the belt and reservoir, the only thing is I don't have the P/S rack and pinion, but I will sooner than later. If you want some pictures of my engine bay with the A/C working or some information, maybe I could help you.

I like the idea of the electric power steering. Use a switch to turn it on/off if you aren't using it while idling or something. Seems nice, how much would it cost though?

Well I installed a D series pump over the relocated alternator.

I have a few details to sort out such as the custom upper bracket, but it is coming along well and was very, very easy to design and fit.

Working pictures and details when I get some time to finish the swap...
