Default Failing Emissions

Backstory... Car has sat in storage for 10 years, pulled it out of storage and finally started working on it.

92 civic si with a freshly swapped b16B swap, using the JDM harness, we extended the harness to make it work. Using a chipped p28 (I don't know **** about this chip, it was originally setup for a JDM b18c). The car runs really well, pulls very hard, a little bit of smoke at wide open throttle. Car has a small oil leak around the pcv canister.

I dumped all the bad gas, changed out the fuel filter, no cel's. I just bought a jdm b16a p30 obd1 stock ecu, and I've got a catch can on the way.

Not sure about the catalytic converter. The inspector seems to think the cat itself is fine, he said his take on it is that its running super rich and he blames the chipped ecu.

High Speed 25mph

Usually high HC is due to a bad cat. Did you change the oil? I always do my tests with fresh oil, it helps.

Oil is fresh, less than 20 miles. I went ahead and put in a new pcv valve. Ecu should get here tomorrow.

This was on the b18 chip? Could just be the basemap/chip being designed for a different motor. Best of luck man. I have a seperate exhaust I run to pass emissions because I normally run 3in cat-less and would fail miserably lol

Installed the new ecu, but the weather was bad so i couldn't take it for a spin. I've got 13 days to reinspect it and pass or I get to pay all over again

Wouldn't hurt to maybe get a new cat. I know the ones from auto parts stores aren't good for very long. My MagnaFlow one still helps me pass after 2 years of sitting out behind the shop.
Best of luck man.

Does your state/area let you retest multiple times in that range or is just 2nd test free? Its kind of relaxed here in wa. Once I fail I have 365 days to retest 1 time for free, everytime after that I gotta pay. Can't wait for the 93 to be a 'classic' so no more testing lol

I put methanol in for emissions LOL.....seriously.

1:1 mix w/ premium will blow zeros. Then go top off w/ premium and you're golden. 1 gallon of methanol is roughly $7 right now too.

PM me if you ant some details...
