difference in k20a and k20a2 as far as install?
I hate to even ask but I have no choice as I cannot find a clear answer. In the last month or so I've collected everything I need other than mounts axles and my k series engine of choice. I want either a k20a or k20a2.
Heres the parts Ive bought thus far...
no cut shifter k tuned
clutch line
4-2-1 swap header k tuned
ek 96-98 swap harness k tuned
Immoblizer k tuned
k series throttle cable bracket karcepts
ac ps delete karcepts
comp stage 1.5 k series clutch
comp 8.5lbs flywheel k series\
fuel system with rail and reg hybrid racing
cooling system with full rad and sensors hybrid racing
cold air intake hybrid racing
STILL NEED ENGINE, MOUNTS, AXLES (buying engine from hmotors, It will come with trans, cables, sensors, everything that was in the original car)
So heres the questions!
In this time I havent been able to distinguish any difference in the two other than the k20a does not have an immoblizer and possibly has a clearance issue with the hybrid racing full radiator without ekk2 mounts.
Do the k20a and k20a2 share the same intake mani?
Do I need anything extra to preform the swap if I go k20a?
Can the k20a lsd trans mate up to the k20a2 without modification?

The K20A....which model? Type R, I'm assuming?
Any K series trans and K series block will mate up (except the K23). For swapped cars, they make the mounts for K20 trans casings. K24 cases require different mounts.
Again...any K block and transmission will bolt up to each other (K23 is the oddball), as far as I can remember.

You'd do better to just sell your A2 trans independently on this forum or craigslist.
Idk where you're located, but you can sell locally and avoid shipping costs/headaches involved in sending a trans to HMO.
I don't think they're in the business of buying USDM transmissions from random sources. If they are, they'll pay you minimally for it because they'll have to open it up, check it, and sell it, and then be liable for its performance. If they agree to a "trade", they'll probably give you like....pennies.
Sell it yourself. You'll do better that way.

I'll clarify. Im about to buy a k20a2 from HMO, I was hoping to just buy a type r trans in place of the k20a2 trans but they have already confirmed they could not do it. Its not a big deal though just kinda thought it would be worth it. either way if I ever build the motor Ill just get the trans built and add an LSD while they have it tore down
