Default Voiding the warranty

Will adding an AEM Cold Air Intake void the car's warranty?

Will installing a Bypass valve prevent Hydrolock?

A manufacturer has to prove a modification caused or contributed to the failure for the repair to be disapproaved. In other words, if your diff blows up, they can't blame it on your intake. If your diff blows up and you're supercharged, that's a different story.

Hydorlock is not an issue if you take the proper precautions. Just cover the hole over the inake filter. I used a piece of electrical tape. I've had this with no issues for over a year. This time includes three hurricanes that came through dropping over twelve inches of rain in less than 24 hours each on my parked car.

You won't hydrolock your motor if you prevent water from dripping onto the filter. Your filter will not suck up water while you are moving unless it is submerged. In order to do this, you would have to drive through a puddle at least a foot deep. That would be plain stupid. Anyone driving an S 2000 through one foot deep water deserves hydrolock.

out of hundreds of s2000's that we have serviced with intakes, I have only seen 1 hydrolock. The first was a co-worker who went through an unexpected deep puddle. his auto ins covered it. the bypass is worthless IMO( will save your motor, but you will not get the gains you would with out it). get the cold air or go with the spoon or k&n stock filter with a spoon snorkle and remove the plastic baffle. We warranty alot of modded cars, but some dealers are just clueless so they blame the mods....

Side note, if you throttle body is dirty it causes a squeek sound that is amplified if you have a CIA

The bypass valve does work. I had an AEM on my 5th gen Lude and drove through a larger than expected puddle. Filter and bypass valve foam was all wet, but engine still ran.

I meant to say, it will save you motor, but you do not get the gains that you would if did not have the by-pass.
