I haven't seen Boots on here in a while - anyone know what he's up to?
Also, any tips for storing my car for 6 months? It'll be under a cover, hopefully in a garage, so security shouldn't be an issue.

get it off the wheels so the tires don't flatten out, aside from that just wax/seal it prior just to ensure humidity's out. Boots is on facebook, he's fine.

full tank of 93 or you'll end up with a bunch of water/condensation
remove tires/wheels- put on jackstands under the control arms... its bad to leave a shock at full droop under the weight of the suspension for long periods of time.
close top but dont latch, this keep stuff out but not as much strain/tension on the top causing rips/tares
toss some silica gel packs in the car on the floor. you know those little packets that come in your new shoe boxs that say dont eat...those will suck the moisture out of the air intead of your car....no more musty smell after the car sits
fresh fluids...do a fresh oil change....when you get back change it again
car cover if you can, even if its a cheap non fitted one
wash and wax it right before you put it away.
hope that helps(my winter routine)

Thanks Scott and daglepants - awesome. I'll do all of that i reckon, bar up on jacks sadly. It'll have to sit on wheels. It's so light it shouldn't matter

This seems like a semi-off-topic S2000 thread, so as this is just a general question for people who may have tracked/autocrossed S2000s i thought i would ask it here to be less invasive (Still learning forums)
Something i always found "funny" about the S2000 was that its stock spring-rates were about the same as a Lotus Elise, yet its weight distribution is clearly not, thus leading to ALOT of tail happy behavior on turn-in and worse mechanical grip on corner exit.
I was wondering if most people who own Honda S2000s usually dial this out with stiffer front springs or not. Also wondering what the specific changes in suspension geometry were between early and late models (ideally which one had a lower or more consistent rear roll center)
I quite like S2000s but their stock suspension setup always seemed kind of goofy to me, I'd put it in the same catagory (not as bad but) as a C4 Corvette, or a mki/mkii MR2, FC RX-7.. They sort of over-did the rear end, i suppose just to make it feel "exciting." Fantastic cars though!

the car is designed to be tracked, and does so very well in stock form.
i have a very simple cure, i run a 17x9 255/40 square wheel setup. this adds tremedous amounts of front grip and turn in is beautiful. the rear i made a bit more predictible with the addision of a wing. i was noticing a bit of understeer and added a 3" front splitter. my car feels very neutral, very planted and inspires confidence when driving. turn in is crisp and percise, long sweepers feels very planted, rotates nicely on slower corners, im very happy with my current setup.

Re: I'm sorry mods... I think we need a rambling thread.
it is a raw driving experiance... its not some bubblewraped sportscar. this isnt ideal for you middle aged pops who wants a sporty ride.... the s2000 is pure driving machine. the ap2 has slightly redesigned rear geometry that is a bit easier to handle.

Re: I'm sorry mods... I think we need a rambling thread.
S wouldn't start this morning, had to push it.
I've neglected it so long that I have no idea what my leading theory on what's broken is. It was parked for the past 4 or so months with a short drive every 2 weeks.
-battery was dead (being tested/charged right now, will find out in an hour if it's good)
-starter was changed recently (may have a loose connection that quit)
-alternator was changed recently (may also have lost connection)
-gas was left on empty
-OBD2 connector was jumped to check CEL's and left in place for weeks, may have fried the ECU. Probably didn't help that I discovered this after I hooked the jumper cables on and let her rip.
-Knock sensor and Air pump were giving a knock sensor circuit CEL prior.
Hmmm... this will be fun.

Just did that. So nice being able to start from leaning in. It's harder to get to in the S, but able. I just put my hand in there blind, felt the first one then moved up to the second one. Quick tug and it came out. Wire is long so can dangle down in view to loop.

they pretty much changed the spring rates every year on the s2000...

You replaced the starter, did that fix it? I was thinking maybe the original just somehow rusted/seized up
obviously the battery would be dead after sitting there for months, should probably leave it disconnected and charge outside the car when storing.
gas was on E, probably has some water in it?
alternator shouldn't affect starting if everything else is good...
air pump cel won't affect starting, neither will knock. But something is causing the knock to trigger if it's not just a simple bad wire. But if it is a bad wire you probably have other wires going bad as well seeing how these connectors/wiring don't get touched/played with and that could be the culprit of your car having starting issues.

did you ever figure it out?

battery was jumped, gas was fine (I filled 5 gals when I thought that was a possibility), alternator connections were checked just to be sure, airpump/knock are fine now the knock sensor broke off on its own while sitting. replaced the knock sensor and the starting issue was still there. Now it starts every time without fail. #regeneration

Re: I'm sorry mods... I think we need a rambling thread.
I just realized I haven't actually been on H-T in ages. Used to frequent GDD. Maybe I'll pop in there. We should rejuvenate this forum as S2ki is crap.
