Hey everyone. I'm new to the forum. I have an '02 s2000 and want to purchase new wheels. Axis makes a set that only has a +42 offset. They would not be staggered. Both front and rears would be 18" x 7.5". I would still try to fit a slightly wider tire on the rear wheel.There's a photo on their website of a black s2000 with the same wheels on it. Not lowered or anything funky. It looks fine to my amateur eye.

But some folks I've spoken to today say that anything less than +45 offset just won't look right and won't work. Any advice please?

I'm running a 17"x7.5" +45 front and a 17"x8.5" +50 rear. it's flush with the sides of the car, I wouldn't go any less of an offset than that. I personally wouldn't run a non-staggered setup, the S is tail happy enough. but if you still run a 225 up front and a 245 or so in the back it should be ok.

I found another wheel this morning that does come in the proper staggered application with F 18 x 7.5 + 48 offset and R 18 x 8.5 +45 offset. The rep at the factory says they will fit just fine. Here's a link for them. They're called MRR Design GT1's.

I think I like the axis wheels better, I'm not a huge fan of a ton of spokes but that's just me. on the MRR wheels I think you'll be ok with the front offset. unless you want to run more camber than stock in the rear or a narrower than the stock rear tire I think the rear offset will give you problems. I'm +50 rear and I had to roll the fenders and I'm getting ready to move the bumper tab since I'm still rubbing that. I want to keep the factory camber to keep as much of the tire on the ground as possible for when I go boost. if it was more of a show car I wouldn't care to much about adding camber.

there's not a lot of offset options on RGII's. after running what I have for a while now if I could pick the offsets I'd go with a +50 front and a +55 rear just to give that little extra room for suspension travel. ideally I'd want a 9" rear wheel so I could run a 275 tire, then I would need a +60 or +65 rear offset.

i think running 18 by 7.5 in the rear is plain stupid if your going to get a bigger rim why not get one thats wider to? 7.5 wide is as wide as an oem 16" ap1 wheel whats the point of running 18's if your gona have the same contanct patch as a 16?

I have a set of Tein springs for now, they were on the car when I bought it, supposed to be a 1.5" drop I think.

as far as width you could still stagger the tire sizes on the non staggered wheels. 7.5" is the minimum rim width to run a 245. so with 7.5" wheels all around you could at least run the stock AP2 tires sizes, 215's in the front, 245's in the rear.

It's amazing what 24 hours will do. I've all but given up on the idea of trying to run the Axis MOD's. If Honda designed the car with a staggered set-up in both the AP1 and AP2 I shouldn't ( OK here's a reeeeaaalllly bad pun... ) re-invent the wheel.

I think I want to go with the MRR Design GT 1's. At least they are staggered. 18 x 7.5 front and 18 x 8.5 rear. Tires will be 225/40/18 F and 245/35/18 rear... or at least that's what the salesman is recommending.

yeah you gotta lower the S at least an inch to get rid of some of the gap. don't get in a hurry to buy wheels, shop around and get what you want. also check out forums for used deals, that's how I got my wheels, saved a few hundred dollars that way. check out s2ki's for sale section, wheels pop up in there all the time.

Got the right rear as a flat tire. Left rear totally shot with the wire coming through the rubber, which looks like a drag slick. So... gotta do this sooner than later, but I agree. If I rush, I'll probably regret it. There's an outfit in California that's a preferred distributor for these MRR Design wheels. I'm thinking of ordering a wheel/tire package, but never done it before. Always shopped locally. Anybody had good or bad experiences buying online?

if it's a reputable company I wouldn't worry about it. get them to include mounting and balancing and ship the wheels/tires ready to go. that way when you recieve them you can just put them on and drive

i just bought AXIS wheels too, but halo wheels. I realy like the finish, sick wheels. well priced too.

Halo's are really nice. Congrats. They come in many colors for the spokes and have correct offsets for the s2000. I'm still trying to do it the hard way...

Nice wheels! I didn't realize anyone could fit a 10" width wheel on the rears. Man that will put a serious contact patch on the road with a matching tire.
