Default AP1 or AP2

I'm getting ready to purchase my very own S2K and I can't be anymore jacked up than I am now, except there is one decision left to make. AP1 or AP2? I like both, and I know the F22 has better low end torque than the F20 but the AP1 is cheaper by at least half of the price of the AP2.

Can you guys give me some insight on which one you guys got and why?

Thanks

-DK

AP1 IMO is a more raw car to drive, while the AP2 is more refined. I enjoy the 9K redline of the F20. Also keep in mind that most AP1's that you'll find today, will probably have quite a few miles on them. More miles, typically means more wear and tear already on the car/motor. The best thing to do is drive both, and see which you prefer.

lol test drive both, op.

I like that the AP2 has more refinement and loses only a little bit of the raw.

I like that the AP1 is more fun to drive.

If I had to buy another one, I'd probably go with an AP2. I'd then buy a AP1 steering rack. Then some sway bars.

Or buy a CR.

I just picked up an 02 with 43K on the clock and I love it. I'm guessing with how much it rains here I should have held out for an AP2 for the traction control, but it's probably better to just not drive like an idiot.

If I were you, I would just focus on getting the lowest mileage possible within your budget that is 02+.

Nope, just the 06+. As long as you respect the car, you won't need traction control.

true but its good to hear what people have to say at current times. i don't know if this same topic came up like afew months back but now that the S2K are no longer produced, people may have a different feel for them since they're scarce.

Thanks for everyone's input and advice. It looks like I'm leaning towards the AP1. also its cheaper so I have more to spend on performance upgrades.

It's like a GD monsoon out here for 6 months. My parents are an hour away and they get an avg or 74" of rain a year and have really windy roads. Seemed like a good idea for when I go out there.

If you plan on ever boosting it, I'd go 06 or later. Hondata just came out with the cheapest (and great) tuning option.

That would work with tuning a boosted S2000?

Yes it will. The 06 and later models use eeproms. The hondata just plugs in and reflashes. I have an 02 and will be boosted in the near future. I am very envious. This alternative allows you to keep the stock trouble codes, pass smog, etc. It's a very nice option. I'm not sure if it has closed loop wideband feedback capability. I haven't read anything suggesting it does so that is one of it's limitations.

i wounder if it would be better then just running Kpro. Im trying to sell my AEM EMS so I can buy Kpro. I wounder if it is possible to run that on a older model s2000.
