Do me a favor and cange the steering wheel so i can get that one. Dont our cars come with the VGS already? Someone correct me on this but i think we do since i know that at high speeds it corrects the amount of force it takes to turn.

The VGS system is Good / Bad depending on your driving. Basically, its like this
To get a Maximum Turning Radius
High Speed Driving = More Steering Wheel Rotation
Low Speed Driving = Less Steering Wheel Rotation
I've read a bunch of reviews and all are mixed. Most pro race drivers say they think its a great idea, but Its really weird to drive. Go play and find out

i'm actually very critical of the VGS.
First of all, it takes quite a while to get used to the way VGS works. During standstill, it's about 1 turn lock to lock. Yes! Imagine turning the steering wheel from the center position to full lock? It's just alittle more than half turn! So, you don't have to let off your hands for a lock to lock. Very much like formula 1 style.
Problem is, for us motals who are used to normal steering you can really get caught off guard when driving. Changing lanes etc, it's just a tilt in steering input.
Now, the sad part....i've just crashed the car at 60mph. It happened when the road was just frosting up. when the back end stepped out, my correction was so little, but due to this VGS system, i think it can preety much change your actual input of correction as the wheels start slipping and the inputs to the VGS system change and the ratio changes.
In other words, the VGS system is cool piece of kit, but in real world terms it is not practical. The VGS system changes the steering ratio via inputs from speed and roll, imagine you're on a power oversteer and as you modulate the speed of your rear wheels, the ratio of the steering changes on its own without you knowing? And when you do realise, it's too late, your input has just been amplified by 10% because your rear wheels are now spinning slower.
I'm hoping to disable the VGS system.
BTW, do you guys know anything about an Air pump assembly that is attached towards the front of the car? It appears to be some kind of electric supercharger that blows air into the intake pipe. Any thoughts?

oh no, it's in fact a honda part. It's a denso air pump assembly. I crashed my front end and it needed replacement thats why i'm asking about it. No one really stock this item and it's crazy price from the main dealer. sigh...

VGS is a cool idea, but I'd rather get the regular s2000 with the Type V steering wheel!!!
And yes, there is an electric air pump, but it doesn't go into the intake pipe, it goes into the exhaust. Its purpose is to promote faster heating of the catalytic convertor during colder starts in order to improve emmissions.

I have a 2002 S2000 Type V, but I dont think it's any different to other cars...
You cant even feel the system working... all you feel is that now the lock to lock ratio is very tight (1.4) compared to other cars (2.4 +)
so you basically have to get used to it... which will take weeks of driving... especially if you still drive another car...
I dont think the system caused your crash, you just have to know the limit, and it does not matter if you have VGS or not, if you lose control at 60 mph, it's gonna be hard to regain control....
btw just my opinion, coz ur making me feel scared LOL

Have you got used to it completely? I do agree with your comments. I think i was just not used to the quick steering. I think the rear LSD is also an uprated unit compared to the regular s2000. When i first drove it, i was surprised how tail happy it was. I would say our steering inputs will be more sensitive after driving the type V.
A few years ago i vaguely remember watching best motoring when the Type V was debuted. Keiichi Tsuchiya and a few other drivers tried the TYpe V and most if not all lost control of the car. I would really like to get hold of that BMI video again.
At the end of the day, it's all my fault. Not knowing my own limits. I believe at good hands, the Type V will be a formidable car.

THanks man, appreciate that. It's in the bodyshop waiting for new spares. I'm planning to fit a C-west replica on it. Do you have any advice on bodykits? There is this Denso Air pump assembly down at the bumper area, it's a bitch to find. Any idea how much they cost from honda?

You importeted a VGS and you also now want to put a replica kit on it? Seems like you have alot of money...why not put a real one on? Can you also post up some interrior shots?
Also the VGS steering wheel will not fit on regular S2K's as the whole steering column is different.
