Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
tell me if this sounds familiar... your driving and then you punch it and then hit vtec.... then all of a sudden the car feels like something has cut the fuel off (kind of like the speed limiter cutting you off at a certain point?) did this happen at WOT (wide open throttle), and are you running a stock p13.....
if this sounds like you............ I got some answers

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
My VTEC is intermittent. If it does engage it never cuts off halfway through or anything. It engages most times but not everytime. I've read that it could be a dent in the oilpan. I have a few little dents in it. I'm going to see if replacing the oil pan fixes the problem.
How often should the fuel filter be changed? Is there a way to check to see if its time to replace it? I don't know if any of the previous owners ever replaced it. Car is at 270,000 miles and fueling a JDM H22.

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
I've only had it cut out like that once..... right before I put a chipped ecu in..... needless to say, the problem was no more.......
but that don't help you out at all......
if the fuel, spark, and intake, etc. are all good, then I would start looking at the knock sensor, vtec pressure switch, making sure your CEL bulb is good..
then look at the MAP, and TPS for cross-plugging......
to me it was more like a switch being thrown, the cut off was that quick.... maybe your vtec pressure switch lost pressure.....
or just get a chipped ecu.... you have a 4 wheel steering ecu also.... did that come with the car or the motor
one more thing.... is oil leaking from your vtec solenoid...

has nothing to do with capitalization and everything to do with being accurate on a technical forum- namely, it has to do with you adding an "H" to VTEC. there is no "H", unless you are talking about the company that manufacturers consumer electronics, Vtech.

on a side note, i dont think there is really a way of "checking" your fuel filter, but its cheap enough just replace it and see if it helps, if it doesn't. atleast you have a clean fuel filter

Re: why is my Vtech cutting out!?
Are you throwing any codes?
What about oil pressure?
Could be engaging vtec and then falling out of vtec due to lack of oil pressure.
Just a thought.
