Viper Alarm/remote start Install Help
I just bought the new viper top of the line alarm/remote start system. I think the model is 5901 or something like that. Anyway I'm new here and I want to install it on my 2000 prelude. Can anyone tell me if its going to be difficult and about how many hour job is it. I also need help with the actual installation. The lude is an automatic btw. Do I need to solder or splice any wires? Any help would be greatly appreciated...thx in advance

Re: Viper Alarm/remote start Install Help
I wouldn't recommend installing it yourself, based on your questions You'll need to tap into a handfull of wires with crimp taps or solder(ign1, ign2, starer, constant, brake, tach, park lights, door pin/dome, lock/unlock, ect..) I'd recommend you at least have a friend there that has some electrical knowledge so nothing goes up in smoke. You'll also need to bypass the factory immobilizer (chip in key). You can buy the bypass module for about $30 IIRC. Example: https://www.directedstore.com/cgi-bi...ategory%3DB_IN
Good Luck.

what he said- I have one too I tried to install it but ended up having my stereo installation guy do it. I would just go have it professionally intalled dude, It's kinda difficult if you ask me, and I'm electronically experienced..

Re: Viper Alarm/remote start Install Help
I did it for a living for about 6 years. I can remember many cars coming in (a few on a tow truck) that were attempted installs gone bad. Nothing worse for an installer than trying to finish what someone else started, specially when that someone had no clue.

Re: Viper Alarm/remote start Install Help
I am an experienced installer and I took about 5-6 hours from start to finish to properly install my Viper 5900st in my 01 lude. Definitely take it to a professional if you never have installed a remote start before. This is not the type of alarm you want to learn to install on.
Make sure that when you get it installed, the brain for the alarm is not installed under the steering column. Have it placed in a hidden location.
